Olivia's POV
I genuinely enjoyed being at Val's house. Her family was so kind, always had great food, and I liked spending time in her room. Her room said a lot about her, there were basketball trophies everywhere, a makeup vanity, pictures of her friends hung on the wall, books she loved, and she had the most comfortable sweatpants ever.
"You didn't end up going out with your friends today?" I asked as I sat on her bed.
"No, I had no energy to go out. It's been a long week and I just wanted to chill."
"I know what you mean, I feel like I've been going out every weekend since school started."
"That's because you have," she laughed. "Anyway, movie choices are yours tonight," she handed me the remote.
"Oh no, what if I choose something you don't like?"
"I've made you watch Halloween a hundred times, I can handle any movie you throw my way."
"Mmkayy," I said and started scrolling through Netflix. As I was scrolling, Valeria said she got hot so she decided to take off her hoodie. She was just in her bralette which was something normal, but why did my heart start racing? It took everything in me not to stare, but I couldn't help and glance at her toned stomach, she was beautiful. I was becoming aware of how I was feeling around her, things were different, they've been different since that party when we were in bathroom. It couldn't have only been me that felt it, right? But she never brought it up, so I did my best to ignore it.
"That's why I love hanging out with you, you know me so well," she said as I put on a thriller movie.
"You're lucky I'm not a comedy fan."
"Oh god no, if you were we definitely would never hang out," she laughed. "You're not hot?" She looked over at my crew neck and sweats "I have shorts if you want to change or a t-shirt?"
"No I'm good right now thanks," I smiled. We watched the movie in silence. There were times where we took selfies to send to our friends on Snapchat, or one of us responded to a text message. When the movie ended, we went to the kitchen to eat a little bit of pozole and talked to Val's mom for a bit. Valeria was helping me learn Spanish and so far I've caught on pretty well. Her dad was also such a sweetheart. Her parents were heading out to pick up her brother from a friend's house.
"We'll be right back," her mom said before leaving.
"Okay tequila time!" Val said as the front door closed.
"What??" I laughed.
"I'm kidding, unless you want some?" She gave me a look and started cracking up. "Kidding kidding, we do have some ciders though, want one?" She offered.
"Sure," I got up and helped her clean the mess we made. She grabbed some ciders from the fridge and we took them to her room. We sat on her bed, and instead of watching another movie, we put on some music and drank the ciders.
"Ok ok ok but wait so what would you choose? No basketball or no In-N-Out for the rest of your life?" I asked
"Why do you do this to me??" She exclaimed throwing her head back. "Like could I play for fun at the park??" I shook my head, "ughhhh, since I'm not going pro, I'll choose In-N-Out."
"I guess you don't love basketball that much."
"Not as much as food sometimes," she said and we both laughed. "Okay now my turn, would you rather never listen to music again or never watch tv?"
"Are you saying that's all I do because I'm lazy?" I said.
"Not at all."
"No more tv it is then," I admitted.
"What??? Really? I'm surprised considering you take forever to text me back because you're busy watching your tv shows," she said.
"Well they are pretty important," I shrugged my shoulders.
"Ah okay, more important than me?"
Did she just say that in a flirty way?
"No one is more important than you," I said, her brown eyes piercing mine. I instantly felt flustered and a wave of heat passed through me.
"I'll be sure to pause my favorite shows for you too," she responded and we both laughed. "Here," she handed me a second cider. "What's your current favorite song?"
"Mmm, that's a hard one," I admitted.
"Let me see your phone," she held her hand out, "I want to see what are the recent songs you've been listening to," she looked through my phone. "Mmm you're on your indie vibe huh?" She giggled.
"They've been relatable lately."
"Send me your favorites in a playlist, I can listen to them while I shoot around," she said.
"Okay, now what's yours??" I asked.
"I'm not telling you or you'll make fun of me."
"Tell me," I protested, reaching for her phone.
"Not even if it's a Billie Eilish song?" She squinted her eyes.
"After you talked so much shit about her music??? And you said I was weird for liking her??"
"I'm sorry!" She said laughing.
"Which song is it?" There was a long pause.
"Ocean Eyes," she said in a serious tone, her eyes seeing right through mine.
"One of her best songs," I smiled. "I'm glad you're giving her a chance, not all white artist are terrible."
"I never said they were."
"You implied it," I laughed. "Your turn to pick the movie," I handed her the remote. To no one's surprise, she picked a horror movie. We finished the ciders, and this time it was me that got a little warm. I took off the crew neck I was wearing and only had a bralette on. I walked over and put my sweater on top of her drawer. I could tell she was trying hard not to look my way. Why was this so weird lately? Was she feeling the same things I was? I laid back down on her bed and peeped her wanting to look over.
"What?" I said laughing.
"Nothing," she said shaking her head.
"Spill it Val," I propped myself on my right elbow.
"It's just, how are you so fit if you never work out?"
"How do you know I don't work out?"
"Liv c'mon, you never want to work out with me."
"Maybe I like working out alone."
"You're being so annoying today," she playfully hit me with a pillow.
"Okay okay, maybe it's just genetics?" I said, "I don't know, I mean I try to be healthy."
"Mhmm," she lifted her eyebrows. The movie was almost over, maybe within the next twenty minutes, and Valeria was basically asleep at this point. We had covered ourselves under the blankets, her leg lightly touching mine the entire time. I couldn't focus on anything else other than that contact. I leaned over to grab the remote that was on the night stand to her right.
"Mm," she moved at my movements.
"Shh," I said. I grabbed the remote and turned the tv off. "Goodnight."
"Night," I felt her arm reach across my torso and she snuggled closer to me. I was still for a moment, then caved into the cuddling position she wanted us in. I fell asleep shortly after her, and there was not a moment the entire night where I couldn't feel a part of her touching me.
