Valeria's POV
It was hard to get that kiss out of my head. I was thinking about Olivia all day.
"Hello, am I talking to a wall?" Nicole waved her hand in my face.
"Oh sorry" I pushed back all thoughts of Liv and refocused on my friends.
"Why are you so distracted, you're never this distracted on game day" Nessa pointed out.
"I'm not, I was just thinking about the math homework that's due tomorrow" I lied.
"You're lying" Brenda chimed in.
"You've actually been pretty distracted lately, what gives?" Nessa said.
"Oh my god please relax guys. I'm fine." I wanted to change this conversation before it heads in the way I knew it would, my love life. "Anyways you're all coming tonight right?"
"Duhhh" Nessa said.
"Is it okay if I bring Marcos?" Brenda asked.
"Wait, you guys are still going out? I thought you were over him?" Nicole asked.
"Por ahorita, yes. He's really nice and makes me laugh."
"Y tiene dinero" I added, everyone laughed. The bell rang, lunch was over. "I'll see you guys later tonight" I called out to my friends as we all went our separate ways.
I walked into 5th period and took my seat. Liv still wasn't here, I was anxiously waiting for her. She walked into class 2 minutes later, and my eyes didn't leave hers.
"Hey superstar" she said as she sat in her desk next to mine.
"Hey, how was your lunch?" I turned in my desk to completely face her.
"Good, I'm stuffed."
"Room for dessert?" she raised her eyebrows. "Real dessert" I laughed realizing where her mind had gone to. "We went to get Mexican food, and I got you your favorite chips" I pulled the small bag out of my backpack and handed it to her.
"Thank you" she said with a huge smile on her face.
When class was over, Liv and I walked in the same direction.
"I'll see you tonight" she smiled. "Don't think I'm not upset I can't be the one wearing your jersey."
"If you want it you'll have to take it off Nessa's back" I laughed.
"I'd like to keep my pretty face as it is."
"Smart choice. Do you want to hangout after the game?"
"Only if you're up for it."
"Of course I am."
"Okay great" she blushed, "I'll see you later" her eyes looked at me so loving. She made my heart ache.
...
Once school was over, I went home to change and catch up on some homework. I had a light meal, before making my way back to school just in time to watch the JV game.
"Ready to go change?" Gina asked and I nodded. The girls and I made our way to the locker room. I loved everything about playing basketball. I loved being in the locker room with my teammates and gearing up. I loved wearing the uniform and getting my hair done to look good during the game. I loved hearing the ball hit the net. I loved hearing the crowd cheer. This was my happy place, and I've spent so much of my life on the court, I don't know what I'd do without it.
"Fuck I forgot my water" I realized as I looked through my backpack. "I'll be right back, I'm gonna go buy one" I told Hayley.
"Wait, I think I have an extra one" she looked through her bag, "just kidding, sorry."
