Olivia's POV

Sunday night I hung out with Valeria since she was leaving for vacation Monday morning. Since the party, I've felt completely smitten by her, I was already looking forward to seeing her again and it had only been like a day and a half since I last saw her.

"Girl, how do you suppose that suitcase is going to close?" I laughed.

"Uh it has to, it's not my fault my mom wants me to donate half of my clothes to my family" she said.

"Okayyy then that means you'll have room in your suitcase to bring me back a gift."

"Of course I was going to bring you back something" she made her way over to me, "and I am going to miss you. But you'll have fun on your trip with your family."

"If you think going to Utah to spend Christmas with my family is fun then you're crazy."

"Ouuf you're right, I have no idea what's in Utah except for my favorite person" she pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. "You will still have fun and I'm sorry you weren't able to spend the night today."

"That's okay, I know you have to get up early tomorrow."

"Lucky you, I'm done packing so we have time to watch a movie?" The movie played in the background but we were really just enjoying time together before I had to go home. We cuddled, made out, and just soaked each other in since we wouldn't see each other for about 10 days.

"I'm going to miss you hermosa" Val said as we hugged goodbye.

"I'm going to miss you too, text me when you're at the airport."

"You'll be sleeping" she laughed.

"So I'll respond when I wake up" I played with her hair. "Have fun."

...

Winter break was a much needed break from school. I got stuck spending my break with family I only see once, sometimes twice, a year. My trip to Utah to spend Christmas and New Years was anything but eventful. I had one cousin that was roughly my age, so her and I spent some time together, but if I wasn't hanging out with her I was just on my phone or reading a book.

The highlights of my day were when Valeria texted or FaceTimed me. She kept me up to date on most of the things she was doing, sending me pictures or videos. My friends kept me up to date on what they were doing, constantly asking me when I'd be back because they missed me.

I was ready to leave Utah the same day we got here. In order to make up for bringing me to such a boring place, my parents got me a gift they thought would make up for it, a brand new car. They gifted me the keys on Christmas Day and I was super stoked to get back home and check it out.

"A new car??" Val said on FaceTime.

"Yess. I'm excited to see it!"

"Do you know what kind of car it is?"

"Mmm well the keys are for a Mercedes."

"ooo look at you, I'm happy for you!"

"Thank you" I smiled, "So how's your hangover from last night?"

"Non existent."

"You're having a good time?"

"Oh most definitely, it's nice to be away and seeing my family is always fun. Alsooo, I have your Christmas present packed and ready to go."

"Awh babe you shouldn't have" I said.

"Babe huh?" She said with a grin.

"Is that okay? It just kind of slipped out" I cringed my face not sure if I just crossed a line.

"It's more than okay...babe" she chuckled. "I gotta go, I'll text you later okay?"

"okay, byeee."

After celebrating new years, we were on our way back home. As we pulled up the driveway, I saw my brand new white car sitting there.

"Oh. My. God. It's gorgeous" I exclaimed as I jumped out of the car. "Thank you so much" I hugged both of my parents.

"You deserve it sweetheart" my dad, Joe, said.

"Ahhhhh I'm so excited! Lets go get ice cream" I told everyone.

"Oh honey, I'm so tired, what about if we go get breakfast tomorrow morning?"

"Ah okay fine" I said while I checked out the interior of the car before making my way up to my room. I hadn't heard too much from Val, I missed her. She'd be coming back home in three days and I was more than ready to see her.

I saw my friends the next day and we hung out at Katie's pool. They told me all about their break so far and they were excited to see my new car.

"Liv, I heard Michael wants to ask you out" Morgan said

"Really from who?" I said not caring for this conversation at all.

"The source himself" she said, "Soooo, what do you think?"

"I'm not interested" I said too quickly.

"What why? He's like one of the hottest guys at school" Ashley chimed in.

"I think you'd have fun" Katie added. Ugh, I hated feeling pressured. "You guys already hooked up before."

"That was one time" I reminded them, "And it wasn't too long after I transferred over here."

"C'mon Liv, he's a good guy and he's been patiently waiting for the right time to ask you out."

"Well he can keep waiting."

"Oh my god, is this because you're seeing hickey guy?" Morgan exclaimed.

"Oh my god I can't believe I forgot about that" Katie said.

"Yeah you never told us who it is" Sam added.

"Oh my god why are you guys so invested in my love life right now?" I said with a chuckle.

"Uhh because you're the hottest girl anyone's ever seen and there's no way you're still single" Ashley added.

"Didn't you guys think that maybe I WANT to be single?"

"Okay yes I get that, but it doesn't mean you don't have to have a little fun" Morgan said. "I'll tell Michael you're thinking about it, that way that door doesn't close" I didn't even bother to say anything, just wanting the conversation to end already.

"I forgot to tell you, there's this country festival that starts on Thursday, my parents got free tickets so we all can go!" Ashley said.

"What no way" Morgan said, "Is it the Country Routy festival??"

"Yess"

"Ahh why didn't you tell us sooner!" Sam said

"I just got a text from my mom confirming we had the tickets. So are you all down to go?" Country music wasn't exactly my vibe, but what excuse did I have for not being able to go?

Plus, I felt like I owed my friends my time too since I've been busy. We all agreed, and then I remembered that Thursday was the day Valeria would be coming back home and I was supposed to hangout with her that night. I was actually extremely annoyed I'd be busy the day she was back, I missed her and wanted to spend time with her as soon as I could.
