˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗RIVER
"And King Theo strikes again!"
We all shake our heads at the blonde, who lifts his arms like he's some Usain Bolt. I swear there's some real competition for biggest ego in this group.
"They have to be cheating, how can they be the ones winning?!" Riley slaps a hand on her forehead, in disbelief to what's happening before here.
"And we thought River was the sore loser" Vance chuckles, patting the girl's shoulder.
"Second place doesn't look like losing to me, suckers." I flip them off.
"The game's not over yet, Fontaine, don't get ahead of yourself just yet." Malakai ruins my moment, causing me to playfully glare at him.
"Yeah, not to mention you're only so high up because of Kingston," Theo points out.
I shrug, "All I'm hearing is that you're starting to feel a little threatened" my tone turns pitying of him, even though I'm fully aware that he's right.
As mentioned before, this is not my best sport. I just can't make the damn ball go straight. It almost feels like we're forcing it to it... and hey, that didn't work with humans.
"Threatened by your misery only," Gigi shakes her head, while trying to bite back a laugh at the same time as she shoots me a apologizing look.
"Fine, come and teach me then," I sweep my hands through the hair, allowing Theo to make is way and show off.
"Nuh-uh, only team members can help each other out," the blonde's grin becomes full of mischief, as well as his flashing gaze, "I'm sure Kingston won't mind giving you a hand."
Everyone turns their heads to the brunette, but my stare remains on the grinning Theo. I squint my eyes, suspiciously, receiving a nonchalant shrug in return.
I mouth 'what are you playing at?' but no answer is given except for a discreet wink. Still dubious of my best friend, I realise that Nash has stepped closer to me, consuming my attention with his warmth.
His eyebrows are pulled together as if he himself was wondering why he's actually doing this. Lips tight, one hand in the front pocket while the other holds a 14 pounds ball effortlessly, like it's feather-light.
The slight he has to make to hold it causes the veins of his arms to pop and enlightens his biceps. My gaze flickers from the round object to the grey sky of his eyes, which follow my every movement.
As I get lost in the moment, the silence becomes heavier in the air. Everyone watches us expectantly, so I pull out my cheerful smile and prepare a joke to clear out the mood.
"Make me a pro, boss" I smirk.
Nash's gaze intensity rises, "Turn around."
Not hiding how I caught the second meaning of that, I wiggle my brows as I spin on my heels. Facing the ten pins, I take the ball into my own hand.
Our fingers touch each other, even if just for a moment, but it's enough to make eye contact. The side of my lips tugs, as my teeth sink into my bottom one as i adjust it in my hold.
