˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗RIVER
A few hours later, the fourth movie is playing on the screen but everyone is already dead asleep in the living room.
Carefully, I lift Theo's head from my shoulder and sneak out of the couch. I stretch my slightly sore body from being in the same position for so long and walk towards the kitchen.
I grab a glass of water for myself and check my socials for a minute. Twitter is usually where I go to keep myself updated on the real word events.
Scrolling down, I stop mid-walk when something outside catches my attention. I frown, trying to get a better view, until I realise someone's outside.
I look back to the living room are and realise the seat next to Dex and Sabrina is empty. To be fair, I shouldn't be surprised, the brunette does not look like the type to fall asleep easily.
Trying to be as quiet as possible as I open the glass sliding door that leads into the backyard, my fingers grip on to the edge of my hoodie's sleeves.
Full moon night, sky painted with stars and the glistening water of the pool. Nash stares at it, sitting down on the two seat sofa, a cigarette in hand.
I can barely find my voice, "Can I join?"
"No." he doesnt bother to even glance at me.
"I'm doing it anyway," I shrug.
The smoke hovers across the air, surrounding us as I lay down on the empty spot. Hooking my legs closer to my chest, I stare at the unfazed brunette.
"I can feel you staring." Nash comments.
"Just observing," despite his complaint, i don't look away and instead add with a grin, "Am I making you nervous?"
He side eyes me, "Funny."
"So I've been told," I rest my head on my hand, sweeping my tongue over my lip, "What's got you in a mood then?"
Nash hesitates, "It's nothing to do with you."
I stay silent for a moment, shifting at the harshness in his tone. Though it doesn't feel entirely directed at me. Caging the fag between his teeth, his hand falls to his lap. Trembling.
Nash catches me staring at it and quickly hides ir away in the pocket of his jacket. His jaw clenches and he avoids making eye contact.
"Hm, I'm not sure if I'm okay with someone else thinking they can steal my job of annoying you," I attempt a joke.
He lifts a brow, contemplating me, "You seem to enjoy that role far too much."
"What can I say? You look hotter whenever you get all angry," I shrug, biting back a grin when I catch him shaking his head to stop his own.
"So, usually, I'm not good enough for you, huh?" for the first time, Nash turns to actually look at me.
"I mean, you're fine, but that really is the key element you know?" I'm pretty sure he can see right through my lies but at least it's distracting him.
