Abhimaan:
"Abhimaan! Amara! Hurry!"
It was evident that no one had breached the mansion's security, as I had fortified it thoroughly. This implied that something might have happened to Veer.
The mere thought filled me with trepidation. No, it can't be true. IT CAN'T BE!!
My wife and I wasted no time, dashing downstairs as swiftly as possible. I threw open the door to the room, only to be met with an absurd scene.
I glanced at my wife, who stood beside me, mirroring my astonished expression.
"SAVE ME! YOU PROMISED!" Kabir's voice was frantic as Veer tugged at his hair. I exhaled in relief and slowly approached the wall opposite the bed where they were lying.
Veer was yanking out Kabir's hair follicles, while Kabir struggled to free himself. I casually slipped my hands into my pockets and leaned against the wall, watching the spectacle unfold.
"YOU SNITCH! YOU PROMISED TOO AND THEN BETRAYED ME!!!" Veer spat.
"AAAH AMARA!!" Kabir screamed, appealing to my wife, only for her to remain unfazed, arms folded across her chest.
As Kabir looked at Amara, pleading for assistance, he growled, "I shouldn't have trusted you! You are a Rajvansh after all! Treacherous... ah, my blind trust is costing me my smooth, silky hair. Who will marry me if I go bald? Ah... ah..."
Amara simply shrugged. "Whatever."
"YOU SCUM! How dare you insult my little light!!" With that, Veer released Kabir’s hair and punched him squarely in the jaw. Though not with full force, it was enough to inflict pain.
"MUMMY!!!!" Kabir howled, clutching his jaw.
I smirked. This fool was only provoking Veer further with his taunts. What an imbecile! But then Kabir, enraged, seized Veer's hair. "YOU PIGSHIT! I was going easy on you because you're a patient. How dare you hit my handsome face?!"
I immediately moved to his side and pulled him away from Veer as soon as I noticed Veer's face contort in pain.
Kabir stood up indignantly, staring at me as though I had sprouted a second head. "This is unfair! I was screaming for help, and you didn't even flinch, but you're ready to play the gallant knight for Veer without him even asking?!"
I rolled my eyes at his whining and pushed him aside. "How are you feeling?" I asked Veer, concerned, gesturing to his injured shoulder. He shifted his gaze to me and smiled. "Much better than before."
I felt a wave of relief. "Wow! Am I invisible now? Look at these two acting all lovey-dovey in the morning," Kabir remarked, making me cringe at his childish imitation. "Of course, you're visible, you damned traitor! Just come here, and I'll make you invisible for real," Veer said, attempting to rise.
My wife, who had been oddly silent and appeared lost in thought, rushed to Veer's side and gently pushed him back onto the bed. "Don't get up so abruptly, Bhaiyyu!" she scolded. "Here, take my hand and lift your torso slowly." I arranged a pillow behind him as she helped him sit up.
"I’m fine, little light. I even managed to walk a bit this morning," he said, beaming with pride.
"WHAT?!!!" My wife and I exclaimed in unison.
"The doctor instructed you to rest, Veer!! For heaven's sake!!"
"But Maan..."
"What were you doing while this was happening?" Amara asked sarcastically, glaring at Kabir. He merely smiled back. "The same thing you were."
