It's Tuesday morning and Addison has her checkup at the hospital with the OB. To be honest she was a bit nervous. She wanted to be perfect for Meredith. Her overthinking led her to fully waking up and crying.
"What's wrong, babe?" Meredith asked, waking up from the cries.
"I-I just want to be perfect for you." Addison cried between her sobs.
Meredith faced Addison and cupped face, making her look at her. "Babe, to me you are perfect. As a matter of fact you are more than perfect. You take care of me and make sure I'm okay. You're always there when I need you. You make me feel like the most important girl in the world. So yeah, to me you're more than perfect."
"Oh." Addison said emotionally, placing her forehead on Meredith's shoulder and sobbing.
Meredith embraced Addison and smoothed her back to try and ease her sobbing. Little by little,
Addison started to calm down and her cries were now sniffles. She turned her head and kissed Meredith's jaw. It was quiet until Addison broke the silence."I love you."
Meredith was shocked, not the bad kind though. The words caught her off guard. Sure she caught the hints when Addison would tell her she cares for her and all the gestures she would also do. Addison truly has shown her love through her actions way before she said those words. Not to mentioned she has never asked Meredith to change anything about herself or forced her to do something she wasn't ready for.
Meredith looked down and smiled at her girl. "I love you too. I really do."
"Really?" Addison raised her eyebrows.
"Mhmm." Meredith softly caressed her cheek. "I know you're comfy, but we need to start getting ready." Addison grunted at this making Meredith giggle.
Addison untangled herself from Meredith and they both got up and started their usual morning routine. For Addison it was a bit weird because Meredith would usually wake up in her headspace, but she didn't care, she loves Meredith in all her ways. Once done, they put their shoes on and out the door they went.
Addison didn't know, but Meredith had a surprise for her. Not so long ago she asked Cristina to make a copy of her house keys for Addison. Meredith even payed extra to have her initials on it. She knew how much Addison was struggling to find a place of her own, a place close enough to the hospital anyways. She hated seeing her girl struggle and she hated the back and forth she had to do, so she was going to ask her today. She was waiting for the "perfect timing", but that would never come. She just had to do it because personally she thought that there was never a "perfect timing" for anything.
Both women got to the hospital with a few minutes to spare. They decided to relax in the car until 5 minutes before they had to go in.
"Babe, when's your appointment?" Meredith asked, looking over at Addison.
"It's at 8:30. I made it as early as possible so I could get the results by lunch." Addison turned to look at Meredith. "I didn't want to spend time and leave you hanging on something you're wanting."
"Oh, babe! Remember that no matter the results I'll still enjoy that bonding time with you. It makes me feel closer to you, remember?" Addison nodded. "Come here." Addison leaned in and hugged Meredith.
"I'm sorry I'm so insecure and want to be perfect for you. I just don't want to feel like an old piece of furniture again." Meredith heard a crack on Addison's voice and her body to slightly tremble.
"Hey, gorgeous. Look at me." Meredith moved back a little, trying to look at Addison.
Addison pulled back slightly and look up. "I know you're not him and will never be. It's just that after 11 years of being with him it's a little hard to break that thought cycle."
