Sitting with Draco was different. Different than sitting with Astoria or Pansy, different than sitting with my dad. He..knew me. Knew me. For Godric's sake like he would actually remember anything about me? Who am I kidding? I let out a small scoff to myself and just keep staring out at the lake.

"Black." Draco calls but it doesn't grab my attention cause I'm too focused in my own thoughts. It sounds as if he said a word but it was blurred out. Censored, as if he said nothing at all.

"Briar." He says my first name and it catches my attention this time. I didn't know until I looked down but his hand was on top of mine. I must've been really out of it.

I let out a 'hm?' in response hoping that he continues his sentence. As I suspected he does and I fully turn my body to face him, now getting hit with the moonlight in my face.

"You know you look beautiful in moonlight." The same words he used to say to me when we were kids, then before I knew it, I was fiddling with the silver rings that lined his fingers so well. They were beautiful and carefully handcrafted, exactly how he looked.

Here I am, having a "dinner" with Draco Malfoy. Not dating, not friends, just two people who used to know each other, together, alone.

"Yes you've told me before.." I respond and make the point clear that his repeated words have an effect on me. In my eyes, we would be together, living like normal teenagers, attending Hogwarts and hanging out everyday. But because of our restrictions, it could never be possible. So I move on while we make conversation.

"I'm sorry. For everything." He says out of the blue and I get confused. Then he follows up with another sentence. "About our fight. I know it wasn't technically about us. Our bloody parents have to ruin everything good we once created." He goes on and starts getting a little frustrated so I squeeze his hand with both of mind to calm him.

"Draco. We shouldn't even be talking right now, let alone being around each other, but please, it's not our fault we have to live like this. Separated." I add and Draco immediately nods in response before laying down next to me, now holding hands we look up at the moon and let the light shine down on us in the night.

We just lay there, looking up at the moon, in complete darkness and silence, but somehow we connect. We understand each other, we always have. It just sucks it all had to go to waste because of our argument we had in the past.

The silence is calming, holding hands, playing with each other's rings. In the moment I didn't know it, but I realize I'm getting tired. As my eyes almost flutter shut, Draco shakes my hand in his to catch my attention. I look at him sleepily and he lets out a soft laugh.

"Someone tired?" He teases and I take my other hand and hit him in the chest, making him lean forward and fake hurt. "You wound me darling." He clutches his chest, making me roll my eyes over his overdramatic reaction.

He lays back down and pulls me closer so my head is laying on his upper arm. I look at him confused before he nods letting me know it's okay and we can get this close again. I hesitantly lay my head down and immediately the fragrance he puts off puts me in a trance. I instinctively put my head on his collarbone, letting my face fall closer to his neck like how we used to. My arm reaches across his chest and lands on his other shoulder, gripping it.

As I breath, I feel the shudder of Draco beneath me and let's out a soft little laugh. I get comfortable and Draco's hand falls in my hair, playing with it. Before I know it, we both fall asleep out on the side of the black lake...together.

As morning approaches, Draco awakens and sees him and me snuggled close together and his arms wrapped around me, as if something would grab me away in our sleep if he didn't hold on tight enough. He sees me completely sleeping on his chest and smiles a bit before running a hand through my hair and sighing.

Not soon after, I wake up and immediately smile as the smell of mint and cologne hits me. I rub my hand on his shoulder and bring my head up to look at him.

"This was wonderful Dray. Thank you." I say as he lights up at me using his old nickname for him. He smiles back and pushes a piece of my hair back behind my ear. I notice how close we are together and pull back a bit but I don't get up.

As we get up, the walk back to the castle was amazing. We interlocked fingers and layed our heads on each other's shoulders, silence spoke all the feelings that we couldn't show. At least not now.
