Shouts coming from the other room. Me and Draco in his room just listening in silence. 8 years old. Too young to understand.

Faint yelling.

"Maybe it's for the best Lily and James passed! I mean they were entitled to themselves! I just can't believe Potter is 'the chosen one!'" Lucius yells from the other room. Clearly agitated and pissed off.

"You take that back Malfoy! Lily and James were not self entitled! Maybe Voldemort would've been successful if they didn't love Harry so much!" My father, Sirius yells back. I half agreed with him and half didn't. Always sticking up for Harry. But like I've always believed, it's not my place to be difficult.

I hear heavy footsteps walking out and a couple curses before Draco's room door is thrown open by my father.

"Briar grab your shit and let's go, the Malfoy's are nothing but greedy and self centered." He says and rips me and Draco's hands apart from each other. I don't understand. We've always been friends with their family, me and Draco a little more. I can't leave him.

"But dad-" I start to speak nervously and on the verge of crying. Before I can finish he cuts me right back off.

"No briar. No buts. We're leaving. And as for you Draco, don't come around my daughter ever again." He says to the platinum haired boy who is looking sad and confused but listening and obeying my father. Before he drags me out, a single tear falls and I yell for Draco but he doesn't come. He doesn't help me. We don't speak one last word. Never said goodbye.

Not shortly after that argument happened between our parents, my father got sent to Azkaban, in the meantime I lived with the Weasleys for a short while, because of my father's relationship with them, and the Order.

A year before I started school at Hogwarts, my father broke out of Azkaban and we semi got along. I will still never forgive him for what he did, breaking me and Draco up like that. But I blame Draco too, no goodbyes or struggle. He just let me go.

I snap back into reality, apart from my thoughts and realize I'm holding Draco's hand walking into the castle. I unhook my hand from his and cross my arms while we walk. He looks at me confused for a second.

"Briar? What's wrong?" He asks, clearly concerned. I hesitate and don't know if I should tell him the truth, it might hurt. But if I don't he'll know something's up and I'm lying. I decide to tell him.

"Draco..when I left. Did you care? At all? I mean you didn't run after me or cry or anything." I said nervously, you could hear the shakiness in my voice. I avoided all eye contact with him, as this was an awkward conversation.

"Briar. I did care. A lot. I didn't associate myself with my parents for weeks. They took the one thing..person..that made me happy. That made me feel." He replies and I can hear the sadness in his voice. Almost if he is about to crumble under a touch from my hand. I've never seen him so vulnerable.

I touch his arm and let my hand slide down to interlock with his again. We got what we needed off our chest. The fight. It still doesn't change the fact we shouldn't be talking to each other right now. If our parents found out, we would get in major trouble. Let's just hope that doesn't happen.

We walk into the castle and go into the common room and we fall asleep. Me laying my head on Draco's lap while he runs his fingers through my hair. He falls asleep sitting up and we are both in a peaceful sleep. Just friends..I think.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Early morning Sunday at Hogwarts, still dark outside. Owls chirping and no students out of their dorms. Draco and me sound asleep on the couch in front of the burning fireplace.

Four people walk in, the four that left us two alone for the weekend. Still sound asleep on the couch, they stare at me and Draco. They didn't expect us to even be relatively close to each other, especially with how our last conversation went.

"Oh I'm gonna tease him for forever about this" Blaise laughs and Pansy hits him in the arm. Theo laughs along with him, Astoria sits down and all the rest follow her,  sitting on the couch across from me and Draco. They sit there watching me and Draco cuddling and sleeping.

Draco wakes up and gets his eyes adjusts to the light, but doesn't notice them. He immediately looks down at me laying in his lap and runs his hands through my hair again and rubs my back. He has a faint smile on his face and still is just looking down at me.

Theo fake coughs and catches Draco's attention. He looks up and has to take a double look at the four sitting in front of us. This causes all of them to let out a chuckle and Draco to stop his movements on my back and hair.

I groan and stir lightly before waking up, facing Draco I immediately smile before he turns my shoulder around to see our friends sitting there. I immediately freeze and have my mouth open waiting for words to come out.

"It's..not what it looks like" I nervously stutter out to them, Astoria and Pansy immediately laugh and shut this idea down.

"Really? Cause it looks like you cozy up to Malfoy quite nicely." Astoria laughs and hits Theo in the arm to make him pay attention. Draco starts his movements again, making me smile and shudder.

"How could I blame her. She is instinctively attracted to me." Draco says with a smirk, making me hit him in the chest again. "Careful love, or I'll have to write you up, prefect remember?" He teases.
