Last thing I remember was the locker room, cleaning Draco's face. What had happened that is forcing the same boy to carry me to my dorm in his arms? I flutter my eyes open and look at his jawline from the angle I'm at.
He glances down at me and faintly smiles but seems a bit agitated at something. I lay in his arms, sitting in confusion and my own thoughts. All I can seem to do is grip tighter on his shoulder or lean against him.
When he places me in my bed, I sink into the mattress. I look back at him and stare at him in confusion. He has a stern look on his face but can't seem to take his eyes off of me. Ultimately, deciding to talk seemed stupid but I did.
"Draco.....what...happened?" Slurring my words made me piece everything together. I was drunk, almost on the brink of passing out. It all makes sense why he carried me back now. But what didn't make sense was why he was angry with me?
"You shouldn't have drank that much Black. If Pucey ever tries something again, you won't be seeing much of him anymore, or at all." He fastly responds in a tone of anger. Here I am, sitting in my bed with no clue what is going on and he is threatening to kill Adrian.
"Oh sorry, once Adrian saw that you were intoxicated and on the edge of passing out, he tried to take you to a empty corridor and...do things. So I stepped in, might've thrown a punch, but he won't bother you." He nonchalantly explains, but doesn't make much eye contact with me.
I can't tell if what he was saying was real or butchered from the alcohol in my system, but I couldn't bring up the energy to respond back in time. So, I just nodded and placed my head back down. Suddenly, I feel him lift my legs up and pull the blanket from under me.
With one swift motion, he places the blanket over me, making me faintly smile at the sliver of warmth it gives me. I instantly feel relaxed and must've passed out right there on the spot.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The morning sun came up in through the stained glass windows. I woke up facing the wall with a terrible headache. Damn alcohol does something to you. When I turn around, the last thing I thought I'd see were the 5 people that I'd got so close to standing right in front of me.
A groan was all that escaped my throat when I looked at them. Staring up at them, I realize Astoria had something in her hand. A envelope? What were they all doing here anyway?
Pansy flashes me a smile and whispers something to Blaise. I make eye contact with Draco and raise my eyebrows, expecting for someone to tell me what is going on.
For some reason, I couldn't focus. It could've been the headache, most believable option at most. Just then, as I almost opened my mouth to talk, Theo took over the job for me,
"Briar. You got a owl, it's from Sirius." He blurts out. It took me a second to process what he had just said, but when the information hit me..my eyes had widened so far I thought my eyes would pop out.
My father never sends me any letters. This early in the year as well...it could be really bad news or really good news. I'll hope for the second option.
My vision still a little blurry, and my words still partly slurred but not much, I take the envelope from Astorias grip. I start to break the seal at the top, and when I get it open I take out the letter carefully.
Dear Briar,
I couldn't miss you more my dear daughter. But let's get straight to the point. You are to come home for the weekend and attend the dinner party I have planned to host at our manor.
Invite whoever you want, as long as it's not a Malfoy. You know the rules. I have a dress awaiting you at home, a gift from Nymphodora Tonks herself. It's a beautiful gown and you will be amazed at the detail.
Aside from the party, I hope all has been well with you at Hogwarts. I'll see you soon. And always remember, stay away from Malfoy, or there will be consequences.
Your father,
Sirius BlackFinishing reading the letter from him was like throwing up. The one important thing he had told me to not do, I had gone against his wish. Though I had expected to get that in this letter because he's only said it every year, it feels more real to see it written down.
Letting out a deep sigh, I close the letter, place it back in the envelope, and place it on my nightstand. I adjust my view back to the 5 in front of me. One of them was mentioned in the letter. I can't let him know.
"Well? What was it about?" Pansy questions, making Blaise become intrigued as well as the others. I can't tell them some of the information because it will be a shock to them, except one. We both knew we shouldn't be hanging out, let alone talking but we can't help it.
"Just about a dinner party he wants me to attend this weekend at my manor. Nothing too serious." I answer back. I believe I played it off pretty well because none of them flinched or acted curious. The only person I was worried about finding out was the platinum haired boy to my left in front of me.
The same 9 words kept replaying in my head.
Stay away from Malfoy, or there will be consequences.
Realistically, how bad could the consequences be...right?
