✨A/N just a small one today✨
"Are you ready, Charlie?" Nick asked, glancing at his phone. It had been about five minutes since he got off the phone with Sarah, and the anticipation was building. He could feel the tension in the air as he waited for Charlie's response, knowing that the next few moments could set the tone for the rest of their evening.
"I don't know, Nick. I want a plan or something, please. I know I'm overthinking, but how is it going to go? What do we do, say—" By this point, Charlie was rambling, and Nick could see another panic attack coming
"Shhh, baby, you're okay. Just focus on my voice, my breathing, just on me, my love. You're okay," Nick said softly as he undid his seatbelt and turned to face Charlie, taking her hands in his.
"We'll get through this together. I'm so proud of you for how far you've come. I know this is still all new and scary, but we're taking every step together." He hugged her tightly, knowing that the embrace would help soothe her, as it always did when things became overwhelming."What do you need right now?" Nick asked gently, knowing that Charlie handled things one step at a time.
"A plan. How do we mention this?" She was referring to their new relationship and her identity.
"We'll walk in. You know Mum notices everything, so she'll see the dress. That's okay. She might ask about it eventually, and that can help open up the conversation. Is that okay?" Nick asked, unsure of what Charlie was thinking.
"Yes, I like that plan, Nick. And a hypothetical scenario: if it goes really bad, can we leave straight away, please?"
"Of course, love. That's always an option, no matter what we're doing or where we are."
"Thank you.""Anytime. Also, I guess we would be able to leave 'straight' away since we're in a 'normal relationship,'" Nick smirked.
"Oh my god, Nicholas, you've been waiting to say that, haven't you?" Charlie laughed, playfully hitting Nick.
"I might have, but I'm glad to see you smile and laugh again. With that, I think it's time to go inside. What do you say?"
"Yes, let's go inside."
