Part 27

*Danielle's POV*

I wake up to already see the sun shining, I look beside me where Valentina is sleeping, I smile before the realisation kicks in.

I grab my phone and see that it's already 7 "Shit" I whisper loudly before getting out from bed.

Valentina starts stirring as she wakes up "Hey darling, everything okay?" she mumbles.

"No, no everything is not okay, I'm late from my first day at work" I panic as I start dressing up, Valentina yawns before slowly getting up.

"Don't worry about it, even if you are late Mike will understand, you know we are close" she tries to reassure me, it doesn't work.

"Oh so just because you know the COO, I shouldn't be punctual, or what?" I retort, irritated slightly.

"I mean-" she starts, I scoff, she is unbelievable.

"I can't do this right now, I have to go" I say before I head downstairs.

"What did I say? What's wrong?" she follows me, I start putting my stilettos on.

"I hate it when you do this, when you think I'm above all the other interns just because I'm dating you" I say as I finish getting my heels on.

"Actually we are engaged-" she says, she is still not taking this seriously, I roll my eyes before opening the door.

"I'll see you" I shut the door behind me, I let out a breath.

I get in the car and start driving towards the law firm, I love Valentina but sometimes she forgets I really want to work for everything I have.

In 20 minutes I arrive, I look down on my watch, great I'm just in time, I lock my car and head into the firm, it's a modern skyscraper just like Powers, the walls made from glass, everything is marble, yeah it's apparent that this is one of the best firm's to work at.

I go to the receptionist "Hi, I'm here for my summer internship at Lexington" I say, she looks at me with a bored look on her face.

"30th floor, right office" she says simply, I nod before I get in the elevator, I push the right button.

After I arrive I see cubicles, a big area where everyone has a computer and papers ahead of them, I look around confused before I see a group of people my age and I head towards them.

A girl from the group smiles at me "Hey, are you here for the internship too?" she asks me excitedly, I nod.

"Yes, you all are too, right?" I look over to the other 4 people there, they all nod, we hear someone clear their throats, we look up.

A man stands there "So welcome interns, you are not here for a vacation, you'll be working hard this whole summer, and if you pass the bar in a month and you are actually not a total waste you may be working here on a longer term, nothing is quaranted though" he starts.

"You all have your cubicle, you will be doing paper work mostly as expected, once you are done? Don't worry you'll get another stack" he smiles cruely.

"Now I suggest you sit down somewhere and start, you have any questions you can ask me, but I hope you won't have too much" he says, how are we supposed to not have many questions when this is basically our first job?

I take a seat and begin looking over the papers, I get started on them.

Finally it's lunch break, the girl who I spoke to earlier comes up to me "Hey you wanna join us?" she asks smiling, I smile "Sure" not like I brought lunch with me, I was kind of in a hurry.
