Why does a simple scent transport me back to a place?
A place I don't ever want to visit
Even if it's a place in my mind
I haven't been to that person's home in years
But it's only a memory in my mind forever
A simple smell of a scent that was familiar
Took me to the toxic place I never want to be
The toxic environment should burn to no prevail
The harsh words and actions branded itself
Into my internal dialogue for years
The years it took of healing for that to stop
But that scent transport me back to my teenage years
