Chapter 31: BACK TO WORK

             "All right, i'll be off now. Bye and take care of yourself." I shouted to Noah while standing at the exit door.

            "I'm suppose to be the one telling you that." Replied Noah. "And, i'll be coming to pick you from work. Expect me." He replied as he made himself a cup of tea on the dinning table.

            "Whatever." I said and was about  leaving when Noah called me.

             "Iris!" Shouted Noah as he approached me.

             "Yeah..." I turned and met Noah standing behind me.

              "You forgot something." He said and pulled me into a kiss. We kissed for a few seconds before he pecked my forehead and waved bye to me as i walked out of the building.

              I got into my car and sped off to work. As i drove, i noticed my hand touching my lips and smiling sheepishly. I couldn't believe the fact that the handsome stranger i met at the restaurant on my first day in Nigeria is the guy i know have sex with. He is also the guy who stays with me and just kissed me before i left for work. That's unbelievable.

             As i thought of Noah, my smile was immediately replaced with droopy lips. Although i was in love with this guy, i still felt uncertain. I really need to bring Ruby's story to the table and know where i stand with Noah. I can't keep having sex with a guy i have no idea of where or what he feels for me.

             But even as much as i might want to bring up Ruby's name, that won't be possible without Yinka's name coming into the conversation. What do i do? I really don't want to hurt Yinka. I really don't want to but i'll have to. Sorry Yinka. All i have to do now is think of a way to bring up this conversation.

            Having a conversation with my inner self made me surprise of how fast i reached the store. That was really fast. I got down from my car and entered the store. The first person i met was mister Jan who was sweeping the front of the store. We exchanged greetings and i entered properly.

            I greeted my other employees and made eye contact with Cecilia. She stared at me and smiled. As i walked into my office, Cecilia followed me. It was kinda scary.

           "What is it Ce? Why are you following me?" I asked a bit confused at her behavior.

             "I know you weren't sick." She said with a calm facial expression.

             "Uh....i was sick. The least you can do is be happy i'm at work today." I replied, avoiding eye contact with her.

             "Iris, i'm also a young lady like you. In fact, i'm two years older than you. I know a lady who has a guy around her when i see one. And you, my friend, has been sleeping with Noah. Did i lie?" She asked with a smile. Hearing her say this made me have mixed emotions. Unsure of what to say, i stood frozen and stared at Cecilia who stood in front of me, smiling like a mum who just caught her daughter red handed.

          What do i say now? Cecilia is serious about this. How do i tell her? But how did she know? I'm cooked.

          "Look, Cecilia," i walked up to her and held her hands. "It wasn't intentional. I returned from work on Monday and met Noah already at my place. I tried cha...."

            "You don't need to explain anything to me Iris. Your a full grown woman and should be able to think for yourself. I have no problem with you falling in love with this guy. I'm just scared he'll harm you." She said, concern written all over her face.

         "That's it Ce. I have already fallen in love with this guy. I'm trying to stop but that seems impossible. And him being in my apartment now makes it even more impossible."

          "I don't want to loose another friend." She said and pulled me into a hug. "You mean a lot to me Iris. Please be careful around that guy. Please...." She echoed into my ear while still hugging me. She broke the hug and stared at me, tears filled her eyes.

          "Why are your eyes teary?"

           "Oh, it's nothing..." She chuckled and wiped the tears away. "I guess i can't control myself when i think of Ruby." She gave a fake laughter.

            "It's fine. Feel free to express yourself around me." I hugged her again.

            "Yeah, thank you." She said as we were still locked in a hug. "I'll be back to my duty post. See you later honey." She smiled at me, pulling away from my grip.

            "Yeah, me too. See you too, sweet heart." We both chuckled and she left my office.

           Words can't contain the amount of affection i have towards Cecilia. Seeing her leave my office made me recall my first encounter with her. She was so rude. To think that that rude girl i encountered on my first visit here would turn out to be my very close friend is incredible. This world is really unpredictable.

          "Noah, it's just 6:30pm and you've already picked up from work. Why so early?"

          "Let's just say, i was missing you. Nothing much. Don't feel to special." He smiled.

          "And why shouldn't i?" I said in a flirty manner. "Why shouldn't i feel special when that tongue of yours was inside my pussy yesterday." I bite my bottom as i stared at him in a flirty manner. My gaze resting shamelessly on the hump in his trouser.

          "They'd probably be in there tonight. The only reason i can't get them in there right now is because I'm driving."
