Isabel finished writing and looked back up to the moon. The sun was setting once again, and Isabel and the other wolves had a happy night. Before Isabel went to bed, she knew that she wanted to speak to Grannie.
"Grannie, do you believe that one day I will become the alpha?"
Isabel asked, staring at the sky. The stars went around and Isabel stayed outside of the cave. She fell asleep.
"Grannie, where are you?"
Isabel asked, trapped inside her home. She walked towards a bed with Grannie waiting for her.
"Isabel,"
She began, her heart sunk to the ground.
"I'm dying, but I want you to know that one day you're going to do amazing things."
Isabel went to the ground.
"Grannie, I cannot leave you though! You helped me all this way through war and what am I going to do?"
Isabel asked. Before Grannie passed, she handed Isabel a note and nodded. Isabel jumped on her, hugging Grannie tight. Grannie passed away in Isabel's arms as Isabel cried. She couldn't stop, but knew that the message was to be saved for later.
Isabel woke up. Her eyes were full of fear and Isabel wanted to know where the note was. She snuggled through her pockets, looking for it. There was a piece of paper hiding inside one of them. The mother wolf and her pups came to listen in.
"Dear Isabel,"
The note began at the top of the paper. The ink was barley alive, still smooshed and almost dried out. Smears and crumbles came from it.
"I believe in you always. I wish for the best of you. I will live a happy life, and I know you miss me. I want you to know that one day, I promise, you will be the alpha of your own pack."
Isabel read aloud. Looking back up to the sky, Isabel howled, even though the moon went away before she could speak. Isabel jumped up and down knowing that her Grannie was there.
The clouds suddenly filled with memories of Isabel and Grannie. One cloud had Isabel making cookies with Grannie. Another had one where it was Isabel's birthday. Grannie gave her a mini present that held a special necklace with her and Grannie inside it.
Isabel smiled lightly, knowing that Grannie was in the skies, watching her every moment, not missing a single step Isabel took. Isabel kept digging through her pockets and found a necklace inside.
"This is for you."
A whisper came from the sky as Grannie came close to Isabel. Isabel turned around to find Grannie as herself. She was a ghost, although she had beautiful wings like an angel. Isabel went up to Grannie, hugging her.
Grannie disappeared and Isabel kept howling at the sky. Isabel opened up the necklace with a picture of Grannie and her baking delicious cookies. Isabel smiled with glee, turning back to the mother and her wolves.
"We cannot stand here any longer. We must go out and I can save the pack I dreamed of. You ready for some fun?"
Isabel asked.
"Can we get some raw pig meat first?"
The mother asked as her puppies whined for food. Isabel nodded and pointed into the cave.
"Stay here. I'll do all the hunting."
Isabel said, running and attacking some pigs. She brought back a giant basket full of meat and gave it to the mother and her pups.
"Thank you, Grannie."
Isabel said looking back up at the sky.
"I wouldn't expect you to be here still. I know you are waiting for me to return, and become the new alpha of my pack. I will always be waiting for you and all of your precious gifts. I cannot wait to see you in the skies again, cheering me on."
