A Hint

Leon POV
"Oh, girls? Where are you?" I called out. Under my breath, I muttered, "Seriously, where could they be hiding?"

I looked carefully through our early decided hiding area, brushing bushes and leaves aside and carefully stepping past twigs to prevent making noises that could scare them away upon realising my location.

Suddenly, I passed a large clump of greenery, and just then I heard a soft chuckle. Whirling around, I watched it carefully, before I charged in and pushed the leaves aside, only to reveal Nita hiding inside them.

"Found you!" I said triumphantly.

"I just...couldn't...stop...laughing..." Nita giggled loudly, "when I saw you walking like a....like a big fat bird!"

I cracked a small smile at her foolery, then together we both headed off to find Jessie. And as we searched, I wondered what was going on with our parents.

We had played two rounds of hide-and-seek, with Nita and I being the seekers respectively, having so much fun that we lost track of time.

But our parents hadn't called us yet, which meant it was probably okay.

Once I found Jessie hiding in a bush, we all congregated again and I grinned at Jessie, "Your turn to find us, Jessie!"

"Okay, one...two...three..."

Jessie POV
Upon finishing the countdown, I quickly scanned the area, trying to spot anything out of the ordinary. The quick search turned up nothing, so I delved deeper into the forest, pushing vines and branches apart as I called, "Nita? Leon? Where are you..."

Just then, I heard a giggle and a loud rustle from nearby. I immediately wheeled around, trying to see who it was that had likely just passed me. All I could see was the normal dark green leaves, the brown branches, thin rays of sunlight that barely pierced the thick, high-above canopy that topped the jungle.

A few bugs and whatnot flew around, making their usual, kinda annoying, high-pitched buzzing sounds. But I couldn't see any sign of human life anywhere. There were a few broken twigs on one of the nearby trees though...

I decided to investigate, scrutinising the tree carefully and then eyeing the large mess of green leaves high above, trying to see if I could find anyone hiding up there in its depths. Or rather its heights.

Another giggle rang out, this time I was sure it me from above me. I concentrated even harder, using all of my brainpower and energy to try to find them. I didn't want to lose this round too...

Just when I was about to give up, a small flash erupted from my brain, bright and lightning blue, and I could have sworn I spotted two large blue dots up in the canopy.

And seconds later, Leon and Nita emerged from the same position as those dots.

"What...was...that?" Leon gasped, dumbfounded.
