Jessie POV

"What...was...that?" The four of us murmured at the same time. The purple smoke was still clouding the sky, blocking more than half of the visible blue out. All around, purple was dousing the trees, staining them and seemingly making them wither.

I gasped as the purple rain hit us, but it seemed to have no effect on us at all.

The weird explosion produced by the city people...it was destroying the trees.

It was destroying the jungle.

Exactly what they wanted. Which meant...

This was where it would all begin.

"Come on," I shouted. "We don't have any time to lose here." I cracked open a portal, dragging the three of them into it before we yet again charged out of the opened black void, this time reappearing where the purple smoke had first exploded from.

We couldn't see a single thing, but I used my tracking power to create a blue sphere of lightning. Making sure I resisted the tug from the second jolt, I located three people standing in the midst. I pulled everyone closer slowly, and the voices got louder.

"It worked," One of them said. "The tree's leaves immediately withered when the colcapholia touched it."

I assumed the colcapholia was the purplish rain that fell on us.

Another voice ordered, "Then it's time to move on with the last phase of the plan."

The last one, with a fierce tone, growled wickedly, "They're going to like what's coming to them."

Alfie POV

"Sir Alfie?" Cassie asked. "It's great to hear from you! To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Hi, Cassie. Could I know what's going on at the explosion site right now?" I returned politely.

Cassie was the lead journalist for the specialist team in Tritya, which was why right now she was flying over Tritya's explosion site, wondering what was going on.

"Well," Cassie said both to me and her cameraman, "It's difficult to see what's going on right now, because of the purple smoke clouding our vision. But from what we've seen over the past days, it is likely that the Trityan military are yet again testing another missile in preparation for their upcoming war with the people of the jungle tribes, Dokovia and Alatia (the city people don't know about the tribes' unification yet). We wish the jungle people all the best in fighting this power-hungry city. And now, we'll be going down to take a closer look."

The helicopter descended slowly, lowering onto the ground.

But my patience was decreasing as well.

If they were going to open fire, I'd be there a second later.

For my three saviours, and for the better of our empire.
