- CHAPTER 13 -
A LUCK LIKE FOR A CHILD
As planned, a few things happened smoothly. Stage one and stage two were completed. Vaani and Tushar had a sigh of relief and an emerging smile too while following the van for the third stage. They could see the speed of the van slowing in front of them and it was just a few moments before when the van was about to get parked on the left side of the road.
Before approaching the van passengers, it was important to make sure that coming back with Gautam and heading back to the city doesn't gets interrupted in any way. This was the moment, the main, the actual moment and mistake had to take place. Vaani asked Tushar to park the car in certain way, that they quickly gets into the car later and head back to the city.
The third stage actually was all about luck. A luck like for a child, doing all crazy things and still expecting happiness eventually.
The police van had stopped by now and the passengers were coming out if it one by one. Vaani still sitting in the car, feels her heartbeat getting faster. A big deep happy sigh relieves from her when she sees Gautam stepping out of the van.
"It's him. Gautam!"
"Okay, good. Now what?"
"......"
"Vaani?"
"......"
"Vaani, what now?"
"I don't know... (Gesturing with her hands to explain) I guess... we just make an eye contact with him, and signal him!"
"Wha... what.. What did you just say?"
"......"
"He knows...?"
"......"
"Does he know anything?"
"No."
"Man!!!"
"What! What do you expect! I'm not a kidnapper!"
"I am...!?"
"Tu.."
Before Vaani could complete, Tushar turns to Sonakshi and says - "hey dear, get ready! I'm bringing you a gift!"
Vaani looks at him in wonder and Tushar leaves. She holds Sonakshi with all concern and just keeps on watching Tushar. She had no idea what was about to happen, what he was planning to do. She could not even take a second to ask herself only what was 'her' plan for this moment. She was all clueless. Tushar, walking to the off-side of the road, was also clueless actually.
A group of eight men, in which four were the prisoners and four were police. Tushar, really couldn't afford a muscle fight. He had to play smart. He did. He approached the police and pretended to offer the help. The van already had mechanic working on it, but Tushar asked the policeman to give a check. It was just to be near to Gautam and 'signal' him. The policeman agreed and Tushar started his 'job'. After sharing a few glances with one of the prisoner, Tushar goes back to the policeman.
"I hope I could help, but this seems a bit time taking. Let me just go to my garage and send a few men to help better."
"There's no need, we've got this one here, he will manage."
"But sir, this seems time taking. And I guess you need to be somewhere."
"Yeah, but we've sorted that out. Our other van will approach in a few minutes and we'll go by it."
"Oh. Okay. Then I guess I've done my part, the most I could."
The police man smiles and expects Tushar to leave. And Tushar leaving, walking back, shares a last glance with the prisoner.
Vaani sitting in the car, sees Tushar coming back, alone. Tushar gets into the car and sets himself a bit to start talking. Before he could say anything Sonakshi speaks.
"Where did you go bhaiya? And where are we...?"
Vaani wanted to reply her question but she had no answer, she herself wanted one. She looks at Tushar and Tushar speaks.
"Sonakshi, dear, you need to wait a few minutes, okay? And you'll get your gift."
"But what is it?"
"Whatever it is, but you promise to not to let it go... ever? Okay?"
Sonakshi nods. Vaani looks at Tushar in wonder and then she asks.
"What's going on? Where's he? Tushar!?"
Tushar takes a deep sigh - "I would be back... anytime... just... just be ready! Okay!?"
"What are you talking? We already were 'all ready'. Just go and bring him! Or do you need help!?"
"I don't know!"
"What? God let me come with you."
"No. No. You stay with Sona. I'll be back... in a minute or five."
He says this and quickly gets out of the car and once again heads to the earlier place.
A few minutes later, a bit injured, two men runs to the car in which Vaani and Sonakshi were sitting. Vaani finds their faces familiar and in a reflex she switches her seat and gets into drivers' and starts the engine. The two men gets into the car without any thought and in less than a second the car hits the main road. The speed keeps increasing. And the expressions on the four faces of the people sitting in the car keeps changing in shock and surprise at the same moment.
