"Morning," Sunghoon muttered, trying to ignore last night's awkwardness."Morning. I cooked breakfast," Sunoo responded casually, also choosing to gloss over the unusual events from the night before.
"You're all set. Heading out somewhere?" Sunoo inquired as they sat down to eat.
"To see Mom," Sunghoon replied, avoiding eye contact.
"Oh... what about your dad? Aren't you going there?" Sunoo asked innocently.
Sunghoon shot him a stern look. "Are you serious or joking?"
"Totally serious. Why?"
"Why would I want to see the person who caused my mom's death?"
"He didn't," Sunoo said with a frown."How can a man move on and remarry after his wife has passed?" Sunghoon exclaimed in frustration.
"Not everyone is like you, Sunghoon. Your father had his reasons. Have you ever tried asking him calmly instead of arguing? Your mom was the first to accept your dad's decision," Sunoo pointed out. Sunghoon fell silent, unable to respond. "Did they treat you differently, especially your stepmom? You should try to show some respect, even for that," Sunoo advised.
Sunghoon stormed off without saying a word, and Sunoo didn't try to stop him. As Sunghoon headed toward his mother's place, he suddenly changed his mind and made his way to his dad's house, knowing that his dad wasn't there at the time.

.*Knock knock knock *
The door swung open, revealing his stepmom, grinning in surprise at the sight of her stepson. "Come in, son," she said, sounding a bit nervous. "Have a seat." Sunghoon nodded and took a seat. "Yeji-ya, come see who's here," she called out.
Sunghoon remembered seeing her last when she was pregnant. "Is it a girl?" he wondered to himself. Just then, a lovely little girl peeked out from the other room and shyly hid behind her mother in the living room.
"Say hi to Oppa. This is Sunghoon Oppa from the album," his stepmom said, as the little girl waved at Sunghoon. His heart melted at her cuteness, and he called her over. She ran to him, giving him a sweet "Oppa" and a hug. Sunghoon couldn't help but smile. Tears welled up in his eyes as he hugged her back, and his stepmom was already crying.
"Thank you for coming, son. We've waited for years. Please come by often, at least for her," his stepmom said, sobbing. "I'll fix you something. Just wait." She wiped her tears and hurried to the kitchen.
Yeji was running around, and Sunghoon looked at his stepmom. "Need a hand?"
"It's almost ready, honey. I'll bring it out."
"Honey," Sunghoon thought, memories flooding back, causing him to choke up. Then she brings a plate of one of his favourite handmade snacks and tea. "She remembers," he realized.
"Dig in, son.. there's not a lot, but please stay for lunch. I'll prepare your favourites."
"No... I have to meet someone. I'll come another day. Thank you for these," he said as he ate.
"You've grown up so well. So handsome. I watch your fan cam. You're so talented. Keep going." She said, crying again.
Sunghoon never knew she was a person like this. He felt comfortable around them and also guilty. He never treated her well, even though she treated him well from the beginning. Sunoo was right.
"I'm sorry.. I mean for everything I did," Sunghoon said.
"Why are you apologizing, baby... you never did wrong. I wanted to say that, but I never had a chance. I'm the one who should apologize. I'm sorry... for what I did for you and your mom. I'm sorry," she said, hardly able to hold back her sobs.
"Ma," Yeji looked at her mother because of her sobbing.
"I'm fine, baby. Those are happy tears," her mother explained to her.

."Sunghoon...are you okay?" Sunoo asked, concerned.
"Why are you doing this to me? Why did you come into my life?" Sunghoon yelled as he knelt.
"Tell me what happened. You're scaring me," Sunoo said, placing a hand on Sunghoon's shoulder as he knelt beside him.
"I went to meet my stepmom."
"So?"
"They never did anything wrong. I'm the one who wronged them, Sunoo. You were right. You knew that, didn't you? She's a good person. And I have a cute little sister. She called me Oppa," Sunghoon cried with a bittersweet smile.
"I knew. I'm sorry for not telling you, and I'm happy," Sunoo said with a comforting smile.
"She is my dad's first love who couldn't marry him because of their families. They married my mom to him to stop their relationship. She waited for her first love for years. She told me everything," Sunghoon said, leaning over to Sunoo, tears streaming down his face.
"She never knew your mom died until your father found out and told her. And she never waited for him. She always hoped for their happiness, Sunghoon. She never wanted to marry him."
"Then why didn't you tell me?" Sunghoon looked up.
"Sometimes it's better to understand ourselves than to listen to what others say. You have to talk with your dad too, okay?" Sunoo said as Sunghoon nodded, while Sunoo wiped the other boy's tears. "You're so lucky, Sunghoon. Even though you didn't know, you have the most lovable people around you. They love you."
"You too?"
"Ehhhh?"
"Do you love me?"
"I...I lo...I love you. Yeah," Sunoo stuttered.
"Not like that... I love you, Sunoo... not like a friend. I love you. I want to live with you until death. Together. Like a couple. Like lovers. Like everything. I think you are my true love. I don't want those wishes. I want you... only you."
"Sunghoon..." Sunoo whispered, not knowing how to reply.
