Link's Perspective-
Link and Sidon had texted a bit over the next couple days and they made plans to hang out on Sunday.
Link drove to Sidon's home and knocked on the door.
Sidon opened the door and he smiled.
"Hey!" He said cheerfully. He wore a black varsity jacket, ripped jeans and his red hair was tied into a ponytail.
Link nods, holding a duffel bag which held a soccer ball, his Nintendo switch, his headphones, and his phone charger. (He never went anywhere without his headphones).
"Here, you can drop that off in my room." Sidon said, leading Link upstairs.
Link noticed a room across from Sidon's that had the door shut and what looked to be a drawing that had the words 'Mipha's Room' on it.
"Link?"
Link turned back and walked into Sidon's room. He put down his bag and noticed a shark plushie on Sidon's bed.
"I like your shark." Link chuckled.
"Oh- thanks!" Sidon smiled, picking up the Blahaj, "I got it the last time my family went to Ikea."
"I heard their plushies are well made." Link said, patting the Blahaj's head.
Sidon smiled and Link took out his soccer ball.
"So you wanted to play soccer?" Link asked.
"Er- yeah, but we don't have to if you don't want to." Sidon said, seeming a bit nervous.
Link raised an eyebrow.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, let's just go out to the park." Sidon said, putting down the Blahaj with care.
Link shrugs and follows Sidon outside.
"So you played soccer for a couple years?" Sidon asked.
Link nods, "Only for a bit before I quit."
"Why'd you quit?"
"I just wasn't very good at it." Link said, putting the ball down on the open field. He kicked it with the side of his foot, passing it to Sidon.
Sidon's eyes widened and he quickly reacted, stopping it with the side of his foot. He tried to pass it back but kicked it with his toes causing it to spiral off towards the street.
Sidon flushed red from embarrassment and Link jogged over to retrieve the ball.
Sidon's eyes widened.
"Wait- LINK!"
Link stopped and turned, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah? You okay?"
Sidon flushed red when he realized there was basically no traffic and he quickly nodded.
Link jogged into the empty street, grabbed the soccer ball, and walked back.
"You sure you're feeling okay?" Link asked.
Sidon quickly nodded.
"It's alright that you kicked it that far, that happens with beginners." Link said, putting the ball on the ground.
"You wanna try and kick it with the side of your foot." Link demonstrated dribbling the ball between his feet.
"For someone who claims they're not good at soccer, you certainly know a lot." Sidon said, smiling.
Link blushes a bit.
"I only know the basics." He said, passing the ball back to Sidon who passed it back.
"But you're able to teach a newbie like me, that's pretty good." Sidon said.
Link smiles a bit.
"So when did you play soccer?" Sidon asked.
"I was around seven, maybe eight. I quit when I was around nine."
"And you just quit because you weren't good at it?" Sidon raised an eyebrow.
Link sighs, putting his hands in his pockets.
"It's a long story."
"We got time."
Link glares at Sidon who smiles.
"Come on, I just wanna know what made you leave." Sidon said.
"Well, it was this big game and I had the ball. The coach shouted at me to take my shot. I did, and I ended up passing it right to the other team's goalie and they ended up winning the match."
Sidon's jaw dropped and Link chuckled, his cheeks red.
"Yeah, and little me vowed to never play soccer again."
"Well we're playing it right now." Sidon said, smirking.
"I mean on a team." Link smiles, rolling his eyes.
Sidon shrugs.
"So why'd you quit?" Link asked, "Didn't you say you only played for like a month?"
Sidon frowns and he nods.
Link notices his grim expression and feels like he brought up something sensitive.
"Are...you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Sidon forced a smile which scared Link a bit.
"But you can't seriously give up after that." Sidon said, looking down, "You seem to have a talent for soccer, and it was just one game."
"Well I couldn't take losing that well back then."
Sidon hums and nods.
"And just cause you have a talent for something doesn't mean you're automatically good at it. You still have to work hard. Like you with swimming. And I don't wanna put that much effort into something I don't enjoy that much."
"Well you're very talented at a lot of things."
Link smiles a bit.
"And you're very talented at swimming." He said.
Sidon smiles.
"Wanna go to the beach sometime?" Sidon asks, passing the ball to Link.
"Oh uh- no, I'm not a big fan of the beach."
"What's your problem with the beach? It's just you, the warm sand, and the calming ocean- "
"I can't swim." Link interrupts, his cheeks a bit red.
Sidon blinks.
"You can't swim?"
Link shakes his head.
"Well..." Sidon claps his hands, "I can teach you."
Link raises an eyebrow and Sidon smiles.
"I can! I know I swim competitively but I can also help teach you. It's really not that hard."
Link shrugs, "I mean, you don't have to."
"Yeah but it'd be fun. Plus it's a good skill to know."
"Well, if you say so." Link says.
Sidon smiles and puts his arm around Link.
"Great! I can't wait."
Link blushed and he smiled.
