Change II

    Hazbullah retired back to his room after letting out his anger on the punching-bag.

     He lay on his bed staring at the ceiling.

    The agonizing event that happened just some few hours ago replayed in his head like a permanent memory stuck there.

   He raised his hand face palming himself before sighing.

    "Only for you mother" Hazbullah said inserting his hands into his pockets and fetched out the number card Chen gave to him.

    He carried his inputed the number on his phone starring at the screen as if trying to change his decision.

    "Just get it done with" Hazbullah encouraged himself calling the phone number which started ringing immediately.

    The phone rang for some minutes before it was being picked up.

    "Hello? May I know who this is?" Chen asked as soon as she picked up the call.

   ".....It's Hazbullah" he answered.

    "Oh... How're you Hazbullah?" Chen asked.

    "Fine" Hazbullah answered with a contoured expression wondering why she is acting so normal like nothing had happening some hours ago.

    "I was not expecting you to call so soon... but it's good" Chen said in a thick Chinese accent.

    "...yes.... I actually thought over it and.... and so I .... I decided to give it a try.... I mean us a chance" Hazbullah awkwardly says rubbing the back of his head with his palm.

    He was feeling so nervous which was weird.

    "Do you really want to do this Hazbullah?" Chen asked concerned.

    "I have made my decision already..... and I thought you wanted this..?" Hazbullah asked her wondering why she was asking him that.

    "I know you're doing this because of your mother and not because Of me Hazbullah" Chen said.

    "Chen I'll caution you before this starts" Hazbullah said in a serious tone ignoring her statement.

    "About what Hazbullah?" Chen asked.
"Do not catch feelings..... I mean this is a loveless relationship Chen" he added.

    There was a silence for some seconds before She chuckled then spoke "Hazbullah, It's already too late for that caution, although I know it's not mutual".

    "We'll go back to the Hakims' mansion tomorrow to announce our relationship" Hazbullah said trying to divert the topic to a different one.

    He wanted to be done and over with the matter.

    "You love your mother alot Hazbullah" Chen said.

   "Yes of course, I'll hang up now" Hazbullah said.

    "Wait Hazbullah, we've just finalized our status, is this how to tell your partner good night" Chen joked in a serious tone.

     "Your mom will know it's a fake relationship if you act like this in her presence" She added.

    "Oh.... I might still be living in the 1990's, my parents should not find out anything about this Chen, It should be like a real relationship to them" He warned.

    "I'll also like the same on my part" Chen said.

    "So it's finalized, I'll hang up now" he said again but got stopped Chen who retaliated
 
    "Hazbullah I told you..." Chen started but was cut in by Hazbullah.

    " I said in the presence of my parents only Chen... besides I'm new to this" Hazbullah said with a sigh.

    "You'll soon learn" Chen said.

    "But..." She started again but kept quiet when she noticed that he hanged up on her.

    "Oh my... did I say too much?" Chen asked herself looking between her phone and bed.

    She sat down on the bed thinking of what to do.

    "Should I call him again?" She asked herself staring at her phone's screen.

    "Yes I should probably do so" She finally decided calling him.

   The phone was ringing but nobody answered.

    "He's not answering my call, is he perhaps angry at me?" She asked herself.

    She saved his number in her phone before messaging him "hi".

   She exited her room and went to her mother's room.

    "Mom, May I come in?" Chen asked knocking on the door.

    Mrs. Wu Ling opened the door to her room when she heard her daughter's voice.

   "Chen, what are you doing awake by this time?" The woman asked her daughter moving aside for her to enter.

    Mrs. Wu ling looks at the corridor before closing the door.

   She sat down near her daughter looking at her worriedly.

    "What happened Chen? Was an intruder chasing you?" the woman asked as she observes her daughter's redden face.

   "No mom, where's dad?" Chen asked.

    "He's in his room probably finishing some paperwork" she answered her daughter.

    "Chen answer me, you never stay late without sleeping" Mr. Wu Ling inquired from her daughter rubbing her cheeks soothingly.

   "Mom, I'm fine actually..... Hazbullah called me" Chen said smiling.

    "We are meeting at the Hakims' mansion tomorrow" Chen added.

    "That insolent boy, after what he did you're still talking about him Chen!" Mrs. Wu Ling said shaking her head in denial.

    "No mom, he's a nice man, please forgive his attitude and give him a chance" Chen pleaded resting her head on her mother's lap.

    "I'll try and do that just for you" Mrs. Wu Ling said sighing dramatically.

     "Thank you mon" Chen said yawning before closing her eyes and drifting to sleep.

     The mother and daughter duo sat in silence with the daughter sleeping.

    Chen and Hazbullah have finalized their deal with a rule.

    The deal means nothing to him but he will do anything to make sure his mother stays happy.
He will do.
