Chapter 14----Barewa Square.

Barewa Square.

Bintu's POV:

The large arena encircled with bamboo sticks as walling came into view as we arrived.

    'Barewa Square' was written boldly with a black dye at the topmost of the bamboo door entrance on a large leaf.

      The loud cheers from the Barewa arena could be heard as we entered.

    Two wrestlers were fighting each other as the others cheered loudly for the one leading.

    They all stopped upon our arrival to pay respect to my father as usual.

     Audu raised his hand returning the greetings as they continued their game.

    They were all people of the Zoma village whom showed interest in joining the Barewa.

     There is an 'approval test' that each of the member's had to go through before being accepted into the Barewa.

     They were to participate in a wrestling match where they wrestle the strongest memeber of the squad.

     That has been the tradition of the wrestling squad.

     Hanke who has been the strongest player of the squad had to be defeated before being approved.

     This has made the squad very unique amongst other wrestling squad's in the village.

    The three fighting fields of the Barewa Square each filled with sand and bamboo sticks which were used to encircled the field.

     The lower part of the field was furthermore encircled with stones which were embedded in the sand.

     I walked towards my side in the square which I occupy.

     My medics were so helpful in the square since they're always wrestling.

    Fights occur due to which I am needed to tend to wounds and the injured.

     "Bintu's medics were written atop my small space.

    It was an open arena with no special arrangements apart from the wall, a few bamboo beds, some stools and a stool and table aside where I sit.

      There was a bamboo wardrobe where I store my herbs inside some distance away from the beds arranged vertically against the wall.
   
     I sat down on my assigned chair quite shocked that I didn't see any patients waiting for me today.
  
     The loud voice of Papa calling the attention of his wrestlers got my interest as I stood up and walked towards his space which was a very large arena filled with stools.
  
     A larger stool sat in the center decorated attractively.
  
    It was decorated in such a way to match the taste of the leader, Audu.
  
    Audu sat majestically on his stool with the other wrestlers also seated surrounding him.

       "So I have called for you all here today because of a very important announcement" He sarted before stopping to glance at everyone seated around.
  
    He always does that whenever he's making an announcement.
   
     He wants the audience curiosity to grow so that they can start wondering what he might want to say.

        "We will be having a person with an undisclosed identity joining us next week" Audu announced making the once quiet place erupt with noises of the curious wrestlers.
    
     Audu stood up and walked towards the fields calmly like he has not just stirred up the emotions of curiosity in his wrestlers.
  
     I stared at my Papa who was now in one of the fields punching the air in an exercise mode.
     
    I chuckled lightly before making my way back to my clinic.

       "Bintu" The sound of someone calling my name made me halt turning around to see the face of Hanke.
  
    He strolled before stopping by my side.
  "How are you today Hanke?" I asked the man whose body was drenched with sweats.
   
    He was dressed in a very baggy trousers which was made from goat skin.
   
    It looks similar to that of the strangers' but his were short and also a lighter hue of grey.
   
    We walked together back to my clinic while we talked about a few stuffs.

       "I wonder who this new face will be" Hanke said dropping himself down on the bed making a sound due to his weight.
  
    Hanke is not fat or chubby but he has muscles at all the right places.
  
    His structure is almost inhumane because he is all muscles.
  
    I thought against telling him about the new face acting innocent "I also wonder, father has alot of surprises" I said to him.

       "Right" He added.

        "Hanke hanke!" Audu called out to the wrestler who got up and walked back to the field not before waving at Bintu.
  
    Bintu smiled waving back at him. Hanke has been someone she has spent most of her childhood with.
  
     They were both the same age and got along well.
  
    Audu use to train Hanke at an early age even before the squad was formed.
  
    This gave him the privilege of being the first member of the squad and also the strongest amongst all.

    Each and every wrestler of the squad must pass through him before being accepted into the great 'BAREWA'.
