21. Unexpected

POV ENGFA

I felt empty, like half of my heart had been taken and crushed by Charlotte Austin.

I drove faster, tears streaming down my face. I was so lost in my emotions that I almost hit a cat in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and watched the cat cross the road.

I hit the steering wheel in frustration, feeling angry, sad, and frustrated all at once.

"Damn you, Charlotte!" I yelled aimlessly, my crying getting louder.

I couldn't think clearly.

How could she say those things? She said I was blinded by jealousy, but what was blinding her to make her say such things?

It's unbelievable that a relationship I dreamed about for almost three years could end like this.

The next day, I knocked on my boss's office door and saw him inside with a few team members. He invited me to sit down.

I was wearing sunglasses to hide my swollen eyes.

"Engfa, welcome," he said with a smile.

I nodded and cleared my throat. My throat was very dry. He then offered me a drink, "Have this, you must be tired."

I took the drink and placed my hands on my lap.

"Khun Engfa, we've received all the documents from your team. Everything is complete, just your signature is needed," said a man, handing me some documents.

I looked at them and read through them. It was a document for canceling the dating ban with a sum of 5 million baht, approved by all parties.

Without saying anything, I signed the document.

Boss smiled, "Congratulations, you're now free to date Charlotte."

I just nodded.

Soon after, everyone left except for me and my boss. He looked at me and asked,

"What's wrong? Haven't you two made up?"

I replied, "How do you know we fought?"

He smiled, "I've been with you from the start. Of course, I know! This isn't the first time."

I nodded, "Not the first, but it will be the last." I said seriously.

He laughed, "Oh God, I hope that's true!"

I laughed without humor, "It's true. There won't be any more fights because we've broken up."

He was silent for a moment, then shouted,

"Broken up ?!! Engfa! Are you out of your mind? I must go crazy! You've been at odds with me for months over this, and now you're breaking up!?"

He was so dramatic.

"I'm not at odds with you, boss! And yes, we've broken up."

He sighed heavily, "Fa... you just paid 5 million baht for something that turned out to be pointless. I thought you wouldn't be so reckless. I'm really frustrated right now."

I was quiet for a moment. He was right. I was reckless, but paying 5 million baht for a tragic relationship, I didn't regret it.

I'd even pay all my wealth if it meant the relationship didn't end tragically.

But no matter what, I didn't regret it. I just wanted to forget it all.

"I don't regret it. And I will cancel the agreement too, eventually. I can't wait 7 years." I said casually.
