Samantha's POV

"I hope you get well soon," I said to the customer with a reassuring smile. My family owns and operates a pharmacy specializing in herbal medicines. As the eldest child, I assist my parents in managing the pharmacy, while my younger brother, Steve, focuses on his university studies.

Eight years ago, my parents took a loan to establish this pharmacy in our rural community. It has been a lifeline for many here, offering herbal remedies not easily found elsewhere. However, our once-thriving business has seen a decline in recent years, making it challenging to repay the loan and maintain our livelihood.

We urgently need to collect $70,000 to settle the remaining debt from the initial loan and sustain our business. Living in a rural area with limited resources and facing a decline in income has made this task daunting. Despite our efforts, we have only managed to gather $30,000 so far, including our family's savings. Time is running out as we approach the end of the year, and the pressure mounts with each passing day.

Today, my cousin Sia, whom I've been close to since childhood, is visiting us from the city. She has been a pillar of support in our efforts to secure our financial stability. Having completed her education and now working in a city registry company, she brings hope with her presence and possibly a solution to our financial dilemma.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, interrupting my thoughts. It was my mother calling.

"Yes, Mom," I answered, anticipation in my voice.

"Sia just arrived home and is looking for you. Lock the pharmacy and come home," she said joyfully.

"Really? That's wonderful news!" I exclaimed. "I'll close up and be there in a few minutes."

"I can't wait for you to see her. She looks so grown up and has brought some good news from the city," Mom added excitedly.

"That sounds great, Mom. I'll hurry back."

"Drive safely, Samantha. We'll be waiting for you," she said warmly.

"Okay, Mom. See you soon," I replied.

I ended the call and quickly began closing up the pharmacy, feeling a renewed sense of hope with Sia's arrival.
