🌊 Chapter 9 - Night 🌊

The part takes place when Sonic went to the warehouse for the mop after finding Rouge.

Rouge pov

Sonic was sad as he left as if something was bothering him. Shadow tends to have the deck floor washed when we're not listening. But it's not that bad. But Sonic looks bothered by it. Maybe something happened in his past. But I have to deal with Shadow first.

I didn't waste time with the sprinkles and immediately hit him like a tsunami wave.

Shadow jumped.

"Rouge, what about mackerel..." I didn't let him finish.

"What did Sonic do?!" I asked him with an angry expression.

Shadow crossed his arms and turned his face away. "That's none of your business," he said.

"It's my business when it comes to the rules and the crew," I said angrily. I had my hands on my hips.

"Pche," he laughed softly.

"You're breaking the rules yourself when you snap at me," he said in his defense. "Sonic was given a punishment of washing the deck floor for a week," he finished.

"Fine," I said after a while and left.

I was worried the next evening. Sonic got up early in the morning and immediately started his punishment. Tails told me that he hasn't even eaten and isn't talking to anyone. And his thoughts are still elsewhere. I am seriously worried about him. I've had enough.

I decided to go to Shadow.

Again, I didn't waste my time with sprinkles. Now I ran to him like a storm.

He jumped again like yesterday.

"ROUGE! With rotten cod, you really should. . ."

"Listen to me Shadow. Sonic is in a bad way," I snapped at him.

He blinked when I mentioned Sonic. He looked at me with wide eyes and his mouth stuck in mid-sentence. But in no time he put on his typical angry face.

"What's the matter with him?" he said, but I also heard worry in his voice. I smiled in my mind. So he likes him.

"Well, he hasn't eaten since yesterday and he doesn't talk to anyone. And he got up pretty early today. And it wasn't because of Knuckles' rant. Tails already put earplugs in his ears," I explained to him about what was going on with Sonic.

For now, Shadow rested his chin on his hands and closed his eyes. He listened and thought.

"I'll have a good talk with him," he said at last.

"Ooo. I knew you liked him," I said innocently.

Shadow blushed and tried to hide it. "That hedgehog?! I-I don't even like him by mistake," he said defensively.

"Then why are you blushing?" I asked him with a smile. I like to tease him.

"I'm not blushing. It's... It's very warm here. Now leave. Don't you have something to do?" said the still red one.

I laughed.

I already wanted to leave.

"Rouge?" he asked me.

"Yes, Captain?" I stopped in front of the door.

"Who made breakfast yesterday?" he asked me.

"Sonic. Why?" I asked confused.
