🌊 Chapter 18 - Marine the Raccoon 🌊

That news was the worst. I'm not sure who could do something like that to little kids.

And besides, like Espio said about the torture, Sonic was quiet. He didn't talk at all. He just said goodbye to the Chaotix crew.

We went back to our room.

I didn't want to ask him what was bothering him, because he might close himself off again.

We lay down with our backs to each other.

I was awake for a while.

Then I started to doze off when suddenly I heard an unusually quiet voice behind me.

"Shadow? Are you still awake?" Sonic asked quietly.

"Yes, I'm still awake," I said. I felt Sonic moving behind me.

"C-can we cuddle?" he asked shyly.

I turned and propped myself up on my elbows and looked at him with one eyebrow raised. Sonic was facing me. I couldn't see his face clearly because of the darkness, but I knew he was definitely blushing.

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"Because I can't sleep and..." he paused. His ears were pressed against his head and he was looking to the side.

"And?" I asked. He looked at me and continued.

"And I'm scared," he said sadly.

My gaze softened.

I lay on my side and opened my arms.

"So what are you waiting for?" I asked with a mischievous smile.

"Huh? What? Really?" he asked in surprise.

"If I didn't want to, I wouldn't open my arms to you," I said.

Sonic smiled and immediately snuggled up to my chest. I hugged him.

I heard him rub against my white fur on my chest. It stuck out a little since I had my shirt on.

I heard Sonic start to wish.

I liked the sound of it.

A few minutes later I heard his breathing become even. Which signaled that he had fallen asleep.

After a few minutes I followed him.

I woke up when the first rays of sunlight began to penetrate the room.

I opened my eyes.

When I wanted to stretch, something stopped me.

I looked down.

Sonic was snuggling against my chest. And he didn't look like he wanted to wake up.

At first, a wave of rage ran through me, but it quickly drained out of me. When I remembered what happened last night.

And I have to admit, he's cute when he's sleeping and snuggling against me.

I gently stroked his head. He winced.

He opened his eyes sharply and looked at me in fear. He let go of me and pulled away from me.

I smiled.

"Good morning Sonic," I said.

Sonic started to blush with embarrassment.

"G-good morning to you too, Shedow," he said.

"We're going out to sea today. So get ready," I said as I stood up.

"Okay," he said, still red.

I got dressed and went downstairs.
