Day Thirty-Three

Today was okay. If it was work day I'd say it was horrible and another two, but it was a weekend day so I'm going to say it was a three. I got up early and made my bed and ate breakfast thinking I was off to a good start. Pretty much the moment I sat down to read a little bit everything went downhill. I ended up reading until 3 pm and didn't accomplish anything I was planning on doing. My house is a mess and that is aggravating me to no end. I also desperately need to go grocery shopping and do my meal prep. Unfortunately, due to my procrastination today I probably won't have time for a hike tomorrow and that will be three weeks of no hiking. I'm really starting to get antsy with the lack of nature therapy.

Anyway, I did do a couple things right today at least. I got myself an exercise bike for super cheap off marketplace, brought it home and managed to get it upstairs on my own. It's nothing fancy, but it's just what I was looking for. It has a desk tabletop attached so I can bring my book, phone, or laptop with me and multitask while I pedal away. Or I can just watch TV. As soon as I got it setup I started using it. It took some adjustments, but it was fantastic. Whereas I can only use the elliptical for 25 minutes before it's too rough on my feet, I used the bike for about an hour and a half. There was some discomfort, but it was mild and ignorable for a long time. I didn't do a crazy workout or anything, I mostly pedaled at a leisurely pace, but I occasionally sped up and definitely sweated. I pedaled backwards a lot as well trying to work all my legs muscles.

Although I did not get my grocery shopping done, I did write down the ingredients to a new recipe for food prep this week. I got it from a guy on Facebook that lost over a hundred pounds and shares all the things he ate on that journey. Sure I've pretty much figured out how to eat healthy on my own, but what he offers me is something I am getting desperate for: healthy versions of my favorite foods. The recipe I'm making this week is a version of fried chicken and mac and cheese. The chicken is baked instead of fried, but still has a crunchy crust and the mac is made with protein pasta and low fat dairy products. I'm skeptical, mostly about the protein pasta because I've heard mixed things about the taste, but excited to give it a go.

I hope I have more to report tomorrow.

Til then my brave comrades,

-C.
