Bailey's POV
She pulls back from the hug, and I stare down at her.
I look at Melody and her face is stained with tears, and I curse at myself because the only thing I'm thinking about in this moment it what her lips would feel like against mine. Just once. Thats all. After that we'll go back to hating each other and pretending the others presence is the most annoying thing in the world.
I see her eyes fall from mine and down to my lips. She's thinking About the same thing.
I shouldn't. this is a recipe for disaster what am I thinking.
Except I'm not thinking because before I can stop myself, I'm already leaning into her intoxicating scent. She leans in to meet my lips, and God does she taste amazing.
I'm so screwed.
The kiss doesn't last as long as I would have liked but I had to deal with the unconscious douchebag passed out in the living room.
"I should probably take care of that" I say pointing to Elijah
She nods and steps aside to stand in the kitchen while I call the cops. I stay with her the entire time they questioned her. Knowing him he probably knows some people in high places for this to not be on his record, but a restraining order should do for now and if not, I won't be so nice next time. He's luck he's even able to walk out of here on his own after all he put her through.
I stand with Melody as we watch Elijah being walked out of the building. As soon as he's gone I can her shoulders visibly drop.
"You've had a long day you should get some sleep" I say pulling her in for a hug
"Thank you" she says into my chest
"Anytime cupcake." I give her a kiss on the head and walk towards the door
"And if you ever need me For anything. You know where to find me." with that I give her a small smile and head back over to my apartment.

Flashback
I saw this beautiful brunette walk by me on my way to my mom's annual party and I am completely captivated. Before I can even think about my actions, I'm already calling out to her. \
"Hey!"
she turns back towards me her long wavy hair blowing in the wind. It was like this moment was straight out of a movie. She walked back over to me now standing right in front of me giving me a good view of her. She was stunning beautiful smile, amazing green eyes and that long Lucious hair.
"Hi" she says breaking me out of my trance
"Sorry. I've never done that before. I actually don't really know what made me do that." I say stuttering and rubbing my neck from embarrassment
"Well, I would hope you don't do that to every girl that passes you" She laughs
"Erica" she says sticking her hand out to me
"Bailey" I respond
"Well nice to meet your bailey but I am kind of in a rush, so I hope to see you around" she says politely and I'm not quite sure she means it
"Nice meeting you too" I say lamely as I watch her walk away from me
My phone starts buzzing in my pocket, and I pull it out to see the dreaded name of "Mother" Pop up
"Hello?" I Answer
"You're late." She says without even so much as a hello
"I know I'm coming right now I swear. I'll be there in five minutes" I say hanging up because frankly I just wasn't in the mood to get scolded. Again.
When I arrive to the party, I say some quick hellos to all the quest that I actually do know. Then after that my mother drags me around to all her 'friends' that have single daughter. It's like that's all I'm good for to her. She wants me to settle down and get married young like she did but honestly right now I just want to live my life freely. I had just graduated college with an engineering degree, and I feel like that's not even what I want to do with my life anymore.
As I'm spiraling in my brain, I see the brown hair again and as soon as she turns around, I realize it the girl I met earlier. As I about to excuse myself my mother notices someone else to show me to.
"Oh HI!" she says enthusiastically
"Mary! Hello!" Someone says just as excited
"This is my son Bailey! I don't believe you've ever met. Dani was my college roommate we had such good times together." My mother says with a genuine smile. (Never seen that before. She always gives me a half smile that looks like she's being forced to take a picture with a creepy clown)
"Hi." I say to Dani and her eyes light up
"Oh! you have to meet my daughter. Erica comes here" she calls to her daughter
No. This can't be my life right now.
"Bailey, right?" She says now stating next to her mother
"You know each other?" our moms asking in unison
"Well not really we met when I was walking over here." Erica explains
"Well how lovely you too should go and get to know each other" Dani says pushing her daughter towards me
My mom looks delighted by how this all played out
"Go on I won't bother you anymore. I've done enough" My mother says
I never thought I'd hear those words come out of her mouth but here we are. I look over at Erica and she shrugs so we head out to the dock so we could get away from the crowd.
"I'm sorry about her. Ever since I dropped out of college, she thinks the next best thing is for me to 'fall in love'. how stupid is that" she says
"Yea my mom's the same way, I Fear." I Speak and we both let out a soft laugh
We take a seat on the end of the dock and spend the rest of the night there just talking I guess we both felt the need to get away from our overbearing mothers. She was also really cool and easy to talk to.
