She came to a start as the escape pod justled and bobbed. The blaring alarm silenced by an angry fist. It was impossible to look away from the impending doom seeing as half the pod consisted of a glass like material. The floor was fast approaching, Luna wanted to scream and cry some more but could only gape in horror. The air seemed to scream around them as they cut their way though. Her throat closing in; her shallow panting was all she could hear. In the midst of her probable death she could not help but admire the landscape.
A pull moves them forward roughly before sending their weight back. Luna heard a sickening THWACK before she felt the alien behind her go slack. The reckless descent slowed briefly before they began tumbling down amongst the ginormous trees. The branches thump against the oval window. Scratching from the foliage against the window furthered the human's panic. Which one would be the one to break the glass? Her nails dug at the alien's thighs as their fall was broken by the dense foliage; until eventually a thump ended their drop. The extraterrestrial behind her had its torso against her back. The weight crushed her by the minute. It took the brunette a few measured breaths to regain her senses. Pushing him back with the help of a leg press against the window. Slowly looking around she was able to see the soil rich floor a few feet away. A red button blinks green, the light faded and brightened almost as if beckoning her. Slightly hypnotized, she pressed it. With a hiss the door gave way letting oxygen rich air in. Shakingly she breathed and waited. No choking or coughing though she could smell burning metal. The escape pod dangled a few feet above the ground swaying with her every move.
"Where are we?" The human knew she had to keep her gawking at a minimum but it was a near impossible feat for someone so used to seeing the same warm tones every single day. The only reds and browns she could see now was her own blood stained shirt and dirt below. Her hand rubbed at her nose which had flaking blood. The sight of it reminded her of the maroon alien behind her.
It had hit the back of its big head. Large form comically hunched in the small pod. Small hands wearily poked at its shoulder. Gaining no response she worked up the courage to shake it. Well, attempted to. A few tries more came back fruitless.
"Hey... Wake up, c'mon big guy... if you are even a guy" animals resumed their chirping around her. It reminded her of his strange language. Shaking and shoving turned into curious prodding. While her skin was pliable his was a thick hide. Red in color though considerably darker in his front. He had black bumps like scales almost outlining the ombre skin. He seemed to have no pores or body hair. Her finger went to trace his exposed trachea but halted when she saw it bob.
"Hey are you awake?" She whispered quietly, receiving a groan. Her weight shifted almost falling off his thigh which she had been practically sitting on. He sat up shaking his head and the tendrils on his dome smacked her gently. The alien took a moment surveying the area before pushing at her to move off. Mousy eyes never left his form as they both crawled out of the wreckage and jumped down.
"Woah!" The gravity was stronger here; like trying to jump in an ascending elevator back at the colony.
Hollowness made her chest home as she drank their surroundings. Trees tower over them, some she could not see the top of. The branches covered them in shade, a blue clear sky peaking through the leaves. There were plants crawling their way up the thick trunks. The soil was a rich brown littered in dead foliage and fallen trees. Different shades of gray rocks cemented randomly on the jungle's floors. The woman was stupefied, she knew about forest and jungles from the various earth records she stored and organized. The pictures did not do the biome justice.
At home their various trees held purpose usually used for their fruit or sap. Some were even genetically modified to boost their oxygen cycle. Although it was dangerous to spend large amounts of time outside the colony many would rotate to tend to their man made forest. Nothing littered the ground even the planned planting accounted for their future needed space.
