The snake was nowhere to be seen. In its wake was my boney hand riddled with thick green veins pumping my rushing blood under a thin veil of dirt stained skin. My heartbeat pounded in unison with a vein on the side of my wrist. Startled at my vile actions, I yanked my hand away from the unconscious boy. Horus rushed into the cavern just as I managed to swallow the knot in my throat.
"Ooman'de!" He exclaimed loudly before slowly to a start. A moment of silence before he crouched down as I had when I first saw Asahid. I wondered if he did it so as not to startle me or to prevent his offspring from waking. Guilty I watched as he scooted his way over to us. Hoping that he had not seen how I almost harmed his defenseless son just seconds before his arrival. He kneeled beside me indicating his cluelessness to the evil roots growing inside me. Long ago they had sprouted from the deepest part of my brain and I lived in fear of them encroaching on my heart. With bated breath I peered senselessly at his tinted eye lenses.
Another loud yell from another set of running footsteps indicated Zahad's arrival.
"Luna!" The same robotic voice coupled with hints of his own exclaimed. Unlike his father he did not care for disturbing his brother's rest for he practically slid his way towards us stopping right across from me.
"Asahid," their father whispered, afraid his mere presence would taint the rare placene before him. A bloodied Yautja male, his offspring, resting upon a naive human female. Such an unattainable scene that Horus, or any Yautja in history, has encountered. This was not a tale in the making for it was as raw as his still bleeding wounds.
"Ooman'de, you sshould move. If Asahid awakens he will hurt you" the brother reached for his eldest brother's head lifting it to free her legs from underneath. Wordlessly she scooted back with the help of her trembling hands.
"You're both ok..."
"Yesss and not alone."
"What do you mean?"
"Come in, Ooman."
I recognized that greasy brown hair anywhere. Those rare blue eyes that stared a little too wide and always seemed full of lust and pride. He still wore that disgustingly dirty body fitting romper given to us by the Earthlings. It was caked in mud and blood as well as having chunks of it missing. Most notably the center of his chest has a prominent hole.
"Hoper? How... How are you alive?"
Why are you alive?
"Hello to you too, Lulu! Love the haircut by the way, you got the damsel in distress look down." His smirk widened watching me stand to meet him halfway.
"I thought you- I thought he was dead" I found myself looking back at my maroon alien waiting for answers.
Zahad, being the only one with a fully functional translator, answered on his behalf.
"We thought sso too" he hissed the S out more violently than usual making the artificial voice stutter.
"I would have been if it weren't for this one" Hoper kicked up dirt at the direction of the group while inclining his head down at the unconscious one.
"Asahid?" The trio chimed in sync, uncertainty at the tip of their tongues filling their mouths with bitterness.
"Something doesn't seem right" Luna quietly contemplated taking in Hoper's bare feet. He was caked in mud and a thick transparent gel but aside from that he was fine. Not even a cut on his hands or legs.
"That's its name?" The human male encircled the woman, taking her shoulders from behind and leading her to the side of the cave a few feet away from the group. She was sat down upon a large rock.
