Walt's last flop

Walt Disney did everything he could to promote this movie. 

Including changing the castle at Disneyland from Snow White's castle to Sleeping Beauty's castle. 

Even with that, this movie was another flop at the box office. 

In fact, at the time, Walt had considered shutting down the entire animation department in his studio. 

Solely because he was getting more hits with live action films like Treasure Island and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. 

But luckily, this was the last flop during Walt's lifetime. 

It was actually the last Disney flop at all until The Black Cauldron in the 80s, which I think deserved to be a flop.
