Frank and Ollie's genius
Walt initially suggested that the three good fairies look exactly alike.
But Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston thought that'd be too boring.
It would also have made the fairies really hard to identify.
So they came up with the unique designs and personalities.
And believe it or not, to get the fairies' looks and dialogue right, the animators actually went into villages to explore old ladies.
I guess that's one way to animate a fairy.
