The three fairies were modeled after three of TV's best known character actresses. Frances Bavier, Madge Blake, and Spring Byington.
According to production stills, Fauna was modeled after Madge Blake, the woman who played Aunt Harriet in the 60s Batman show.
Judging by her appearance, Spring Byington was Flora. She was more popular in shows from the 20s or 30s.
And that leaves Frances Bavier as the live model for Merryweather. She was best known as Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show. She actually does look like Merryweather.
