Chapter 11
College Year
Wesley’s POV
“It’s nothing.”
“Actually, there’s something you need to know,”
“Say it Wesley, I’m listening.”
“She’s back,”
“I thought you’d never inform me,”
“You knew about it?”
Ugh. Bakit ba kailangan makialam ni Jessica dito? Pati sa paghandle ko ng gagawin every time Angela is around kelangan niya sumali. I know she’s my girlfriend, but she should still know her limits. We’re in a relationship, yes, but that doesn’t mean she needs to interfere with the things I do.
“Pumunta nga pala dito si Jessica kanina. Wala ka. Saan ka ba nanggaling?”
“Some distant place. I needed some time to think,”
“Is she bothering you?”
She. Of course kay Angela nakadirekta ‘yon. Is she bothering me? Definitely not. I am the one bothering her, in fact. Pero bakit? I may have been up for some bitter revenge the first time I saw her a few weeks ago. I feel pitiful when I should really be feeling the opposite. But Pity is not a suitable welcome gift for her. That’s why I did what I did, and I have to do what I am just about to do.
“Are you staying here tomorrow?” tinanung ko si papa kahit hindi ko pa nasasagot yung tanung niya.
“No,”
“How about for the weekend?”
“I’m not sure, why?”
“I need your permission.
“Are you sure you have to do this?”
Oh. Why have I forgotten?
“She has to feel the pain. Papa, she came back. She has to feel what I felt.”
Tumayo si papa, “You know, sometimes it’s better to bury the past and completely forget about it.” After he said that, nag-bid siya ng good bye sa akin at umalis na rin kaagad.
It must be genuine—his words. Imposible. A year ago, I’m sure hindi niya masasabi yung mga sinabi niya kani-kanina lang. It must’ve been brought by the pills he’s taking. They calm him down and make him think things pero pagkatapos magwear off alam kong imposibleng makalimutan niya ang nakaraan.
What Angela did is hardly forgivable.
