Aubrey woke up beside Basil and a note.

Rubbing the sleepy dust from the sides of her eyes, she picked up the note and scanned it.

Dear Sunflower and Bunny,

I'm sorry I left before you guys woke up. I wanted to go to the hospital to spend time with Mari. I hope you two understand.

Aubrey chuckled to herself at the formality, then shook Basil gently. "Basil. Hey, wake up."

Basil groaned softly before turning. He blinked slowly at Aubrey. "Mm?"

"Sunny went to the hospital to visit Mari today," Aubrey said.

Basil blinked again before his eyes widened. He sat up quickly and ripped the note from Aubrey's hands. He scanned the page, his expression saddening. "Oh..."

"...I mean...we've got each other, right?"

Basil nodded before giving Aubrey a small smile. "Right. You're my girlfriend, so we should...um...also be a couple!"

They sat in silence.

"...Yeah, I, uh, don't know what to do," Aubrey admitted.

Basil laughed nervously. "Same. I'm, um, used to being lovey-dovey with Sunny, but I have no idea what to do with you. N-No offense!"

"None taken."

They were both quiet again.

"...So..." Aubrey tried, "I, uh, kissed Sunny last night."

"WHAT!?" Basil gasped, eyes sparkling. "That's amazing, Aubrey! Oh, I wish I could've..."

"Huh?" Aubrey's eyebrows furrowed. "You've not kissed Sunny yet?"

Basil shook his head. "Not yet. Sunny's trying to make it fair between us. Since I was his first date and partner, he wanted to give you his first kiss. I don't know what he's planning to give Kel..."

"Wait. Kel?"

"Yeah! He didn't tell you?" Basil tilted his head to the side. "He likes Kel, too. He wants to date all three of us!"

"...Huh." Aubrey thought for a moment. "Y'know...that does seem like a Sunny thing to do. Wait, is Kel even gay?"

"I don't know," Basil replied. "He might be pansexual, like me."

"Wait, you're pan?"

"Yeah."

"I thought you were straight-up gay."

Basil sighed. "Yeah...I know."

"Huh. That's cool. I'm bisexual."

"Oh! That's cool! Um...are you okay that you're going to be dating only guys?"

Aubrey shrugged. "Yeah, of course. I mean, I have a preference for them."

"Okay!"

Silence.

"...Now that I think about it..." Aubrey tapped her chin. "What will Kel get? If Sunny's trying to be fair and giving us each a first..."

Basil thought as well. Suddenly, he froze. "Oh no."
