Three weeks later

The studio was a blend of modern and nostalgic charm. Plush couches and an array of instruments were scattered around, from vintage guitars to a grand piano bathed in soft light. In one corner, Gracie was seated at the piano, her fingers lightly touching the keys as she experimented with a few chords. Across from her, sprawled comfortably on a couch, Edgar was absorbed in his guitar, his fingers dancing across the strings with a practiced ease.

Gracie's eyes wandered to the window, where the city lights twinkled faintly. She sighed, lost in thought. Edgar's presence, though previously arranged by the two of them, had a way of stirring up emotions she hadn't fully acknowledged.

He glanced up from his guitar, catching the distant look in Gracie's eyes. "So, what's the angle for this song? I'm thinking we could blend a bit of edge with something deep." Gracie looked over at him, her gaze thoughtful. "I've been mulling over a concept that feels... raw. Something about being caught between moving on and holding on. Like, feeling trapped between the past and the present."

Edgar's eyes lit up with interest. "That sounds intriguing. Are we talking about a specific person, or more of a general feeling?" He hoped that was how she felt about him but he wouldn't accept it out loud.

Gracie's lips curved into a smile. "Not exactly anyone specific. More like a feeling I've been carrying, you know?" Edgar nodded, strumming a few exploratory chords. "I see what you mean. Like someone who's not around anymore but still lingers in some way." Gracie's fingers lightly brushed the piano keys, her thoughts aligning with his. "Yes, exactly. It's like remembering the good parts while struggling with their absence. Not just physically gone, but out of reach."

Edgar leaned forward, excitement evident in his voice. "Let's dive into the lyrics. We need something that really resonates with that sense of longing."

Gracie pulled out her phone, typing furiously. "How about this,"

You were the spark in a world so dark, but now you're just a memory I try to find.

Edgar's eyes widened in admiration. "That's beautiful. I was thinking something like,"

You're a melody I can't quite forget, a ghost in the strings that I can't shake.

Gracie looked up, a spark of surprise in her eyes. "It's almost like we're on the same wavelength." Edgar grinned, his enthusiasm palpable. "It's wild, isn't it? Imagine if we were writing about the same person." He pushed, trying to get her to admit it. Gracie laughed softly. Edgar's fingers resumed their strumming, his mind racing with possibilities.

"Let's push this further. What about a chorus that captures that sense of longing and the struggle to let go? Like,"

I'm holding onto echoes, shadows of your love, trying to move on while the past keeps calling me up.

Gracie's face brightened, clearly inspired. "That's perfect."

As the two of them continued working, their collaboration flowed effortlessly. The song they were crafting together showed a reflection of what they both felt but had yet to fully acknowledge.

Unbeknownst to them, the music they were creating was not only capturing their individual experiences but also the unspoken connection between them. The studio's warmth seemed to envelop them, a cocoon for their unspoken truths, as they worked side by side, their hearts unknowingly mirroring each other's.

Gracie's POV

I honestly didn't know what I was expecting when I accepted the booking with Eddie, last time we were together he made a couple of very forward promises.
