As Taylor and I were walking in I pulled out my phone out of my bag to send Maya a quick text, telling her we were waiting for her. Basically just as I finished sending it I got a reply. "I SEE YOUUU!!!!" In all caps. I lifted my face up and grinned as I saw her trying to walk faster but struggling with her suitcase. "I'm so glad you're here." I squealed embracing her. "So am I, Gracie." She beamed hugging me back." I had been counting the days for the past few weeks." She admitted. "I knew I had to cut you some slack from having to be around that annoying little brother of mine and his mates." She joked making Taylor and I laugh.
"May I, Miss Hayes?" Taylor asked motioning to her suitcase. "Thank you, Taylor." She smiled nodding. "Alright, so what rockstar thingy did Eddie have to do that he couldn't pick up his own sister?" She asked as we were walking back to the car. "They called them all in for the last general rehearsal, that of course you can watch as soon as we settle you in." I explained. "Sneak peek before the opening night." She squealed. "I'm so excited." She half yelled.
"Now it's up to you if you want to go straight to the studio or if you'd like to go to my apartment, refresh yourself and then we can go there." I gave her some options. "Wait... so I'm staying with you?" She asked in disbelief. "After Edgar said you rather not crash the boys and then forgetting to book you a room, I was the very last resource." I shrugged joking. "Are you kidding me? That's great." She pulled me in for another quick hug.
"After all, you do owe me some gossip." She teased. "As you wish, so where are we going to go first, queen Maya?" I teased back. "I honestly can't wait to see the guys." She whined, admitting she misses her brother. "Then it's settled, we go straight to the studio as I promised Edgar and Taylor can take your luggage to my apartment, are you okay with that?" I suggested. "Perfect." Maya grinned getting inside of the car and Taylor nodded smiling as I turned to check the schedule with him before getting inside the car. Once we got to the studio, Taylor headed to my apartment to leave Maya's stuff as we made our way in the studio building, she couldn't contain her excitement as we approached the entrance. "He's going to lose it when he sees you." I told Maya. "I'm already losing it." She admitted making me laugh.
Nelly, Cameron and Ramona were sitting watching the guys rehearse but as soon as we walked in the music stopped. "FUCK YES." Eddie shouted running towards us to embrace Maya and lift her up a little. "Someone missed his big sister." Maya said between laughs. The rest of the guys got closer to greet her and Eddie introduced her to The Boomerangs. "God, I can't wait to see you perform." Maya said motioning to the opening act."You're just in luck, we were about to play our duet." Ed said grabbing both of us to sit down in front of the small stage they had set up to practice. "Cool. Which song did you choose?" Maya asked them as they were all getting to their spots. "Waste The Night." Miles replied from the mic. "You should also know all of this was Gracie's idea." Nelly said.
"Come on, I only suggested the song." I laughed. "And you suggested the arrangement too." Asher dived in the conversation. "Alright, enough chat and let Maya enjoy our magnificent rehearsal." Miles joked, giving everyone time to get in their spots. Maya and I started singing along and playing along as if we were their biggest fans, which I believe we are. The time for Edgar's verse came, which now he shared with Nelly, they started singing to each other and he moved his bass to the side so Nelly could get closer, they were barely inches apart while singing. "Did you suggest this too?" Maya whispered in my ear. "What are you talking about?" I tried to act as if the scene was irrelevant to me. "Don't try to fool me, Gracie. You can't tell me it doesn't bother you a bit." She put an arm around me and made me sway slowly to the music with her. I sighed resting my head on her shoulder.
The scene actually didn't bother me that much, and even if it did, what was I supossed to do? I work for both of them. I work for the management. We aren't even official and even if we were, we can't be seen anyway... what does he tell his friends or family? What does Maya know about us? Sometimes it hits just like that. The smallest things make me overthink a bunch of different situations. "I gotta go get the lunch ready." I told Maya and she just nodded. I silently made my way out to the lunch room as the guys were still rehearsing. I had asked for in n out burgers and fries for everyone, I placed each order on the different spots of the table, put the cups on the table and got the soda out of the little fridge we got there. "Everything's ready." I sighed talking to myself.
