"We're parallel lines: but I still want to sleep in your stupid t-shirts
and hold your stupid hand..."
I was running through the halls of the venue trying to get to Eddie so I could tell him my good news. Me? A songwriter? Holy shit, I never thought I'd get this opportunity, but to be honest... I never thought I'd work with my favorite band, compose songs with other talented artists, date my crush? My life is turning out to be a dream come true.
It's surreal to think that people actually want to work with me. I've spent so many nights in my tiny hotel room, scribbling lyrics, dreaming of moments like this. I know I've had a few local wins—working on The Boomerangs first album, the little write-up in that local music blog—but this... this feels like a whole new level. It's like I've been handed a ticket to a world I only thought existed in my dreams. And now, here's the part where I have to be a professional. I need to show Scott that I'm more than just a fan who's thrilled to have this opportunity. I need to be confident, composed, and ready to deliver. The pressure's on, but it's the kind of pressure that makes me want to dive in headfirst. This is what I've been working for, right? All those late-night sessions, all those times I doubted myself and my work—they're leading up to this moment.
I knocked on the dressing room door and I heard a "come in" through it. "Hey, babe." Edgar grinned as soon as he saw me enter, Ash was meditating, and Miles was sharing a bag of chips with Eddie on the sofa. "I need to tell you the news." I smiled. "Come here and tell me." He patted his lap and Miles groaned when he understood what was going to happen. "What's up, little one?" Asher asked sweetly turning to me as I snuggled into Edgar's lap. "I had a meeting with Scott today." I started. "You look in such a good mood that I can't believe you." Miles snorted. Only Ash, Edgar, Maya and Nelly knew about Scott but it wasn't a secret I get an anxiety attack before a meeting with Scott and then spend the rest of the day fuming with anger at management's desires, so even if Miles and the rest of the guys didn't know exactly what goes on between us, they at least know he is a shitty boss and that I hate his guts.
"I know but today was different, he actually promoted me in a way." I squealed. "What do you mean?" Eddie asked. "You know how I have been writing some songs with Nelly and Cam in my free time?" I asked and they nodded. "Yeah, we've heard a few demos and they're pretty cool." Ash said. "Well thank you, I appreciate it coming from you." I smiled really meaning what I said, it isn't a secret that I am a fan of his songwriting talent and really the guys in general to be fair. "Just fucking tell us already." Miles whined desperate making us laugh. "He basically showed some of my demos to the label and they agreed to arrange some songwriting sessions with me and other artists." I explained. "That's great." Asher exclaimed happily. "Congratulations, Gracie, that's so cool." Miles yelled fist bumping Asher as if they had achieved something of their own causing me to giggle. "Aren't you happy for me?" I joked playfully punching Edgar on the side. "Of course I am, babe." He smiled and pecked my lips. "Aren't you supossed to tour with us though?" He asked.
"Awww Eddie is going to miss his girlfriend?" Miles teased. "Don't worry, love. I understood that I'll either videochat with them, send my demos or arrange a meeting if we're in the same city." I hugged him and the guys teased us. "I'll miss you when you're busy working tho" He whined. "You won't even notice I'm gone, you're always busy playing bass and partying." I joked but his face immediately changed. "You know that's my job." He barked and I couldn't believe how his mood changed so quickly because of a silly joke. "I gotta admit we do the partying because it's fun." Ash intervined and they all nodded. "I was joking, Eddie... I thought you'd be in a better mood with my news." I shrugged my shoulders and slowly moved myself from his lap. "I can't throw you a congrats party, Gracie, we're in the middle of the tour." He laughed sarcastically.
