"Doctor Zhao told me you skipped your appointment with him last week."
Alina's mom said as they stepped inside her place.
"Yes, I had to reschedule. I had errands to attend during that time."
Alina answered her mom.
"Do those errand include spending more time with that woman and neglecting your health?"
Alina's mom asked in a much louder tone.
"Mom, can you stop overreacting? Can't you see I'm doing fine?"
Alina responded her mom in a calm voice.
"You know you can't skip your doctor's appointments. Your case is very crucial. Did your friend ever consider that?"
Alina's mom asked, her voice growing more upset.
Alina stayed silent.
"She doesn't know, does she?"
Her mom added.
Ever since she was a child, Alina has struggled with a severe heart condition. Her weak heart cannot tolerate overwhelming negative emotions, leading her to spend much of her childhood and teenage years in the hospital. This frequent exposure to stress heightened her vulnerability.
Discovering the cabin on 73rd Street provided her with a rare escape, allowing her to calm her thoughts and find some peace. Her parents have since prevented her from working, prioritizing her well-being and encouraging her to focus on activities that bring her joy and minimize stress.
Alina chose not to share her condition with En, fearing it might overwhelm her. Since meeting En, she has never felt happier, and she didn't want En to feel as though she had to walk on eggshells around her if she knew about the condition. The heightened emotions she experiences when spending time with En have not triggered her heart condition, so she decided to keep it private.
"I need you to stop spending time with that woman. This doesn't do any good on you."
Alina's mom says in a commanding voice.
"Stop it mom! Can't you see I haven't been unwell for a while now?"
Alina answered her mom in an upsetting voice.
"Neglecting you appointment is a start, Alina. Just because you're not feeling unwell, doesn't mean your heart is all better."
Her mom spoke in a calming tone, sensing the sudden shift in her daughter's mood. She wanted to avoid causing Alina any anger or stress, as it could potentially lead to a collapse.
"Well, my heart is feeling all better mom! I'm inlove with En. She makes me happy and cares about me."
Alina unhesitantly opened up to her mom.
Hearing her daughter confess to having feelings for a woman struck a nerve with Alina's mom.
"Are you crazy, Alina?! How could you fall in love with a woman? Pack your bags and I'll bring you home. This place doesn't do good on you anymore!"
Her mother snapped.
"No! I won't! And you can't let me, mom! You can't tell me whom I can be with or not, when you haven't even been around yourself when I needed you!"
Alina is all emotional, crying her heart out while holding her chest. Instantaneously, Alina's mom found her daughter collapsing unconscious to the floor.
En had been sitting in the garden for a while now, having sent multiple messages to Alina without any response. Although she was feeling a bit stressed, she reassured herself that Alina's lack of reply was likely due to her spending time with her mom and catching up.
Suddenly, a hand appeared beside her, holding a cigarette and a lighter. It was Sasha. She couldn't help but notice the troubled expression on En's face as she sat in the garden. En took the cigarette and lighter from Sasha and lit it.
"You know I was just testing you, right? But it turns out you're a little stress, I think?
Sasha asked En.
"I met her mom today. And it felt like she didn't like what she saw between us."
En worriedly shared.
"We really can't make everyone understand our feelings, En."
Sasha responded.
"But Auntie Rosa accepted your relationship with Bian."
En answered.
"Not everyone thinks alike. Some people are open to accept those circumstances, others don't. My mother just wants to see me happy, no matter who I'm with."
Sasha replied.
"I wish it was all that easy for us too. But I guess it won't be."
En said in a low and sad tone as she grabs and pulls a handful of her hair overly thinking of the situation.
