Sasha rushed back to the operating room, where Bian was waiting anxiously. Bian's eyes were filled with worry as she asked, "Sasha! Posy is inside the operating room. They're preparing for her surgery. Have you contacted En?"
Sasha remained silent, unable to bring herself to share the gravity of the situation.
Bian continued, her voice tinged with concern, "I also saw Alina being brought into the operating room just a few minutes ago. I think that's her mom over there. I hope En arrives soon."
Sasha noticed the woman standing anxiously at the other corner outside the operating room. Slowly and with a heavy heart, she approached her, leaving Bian somewhat confused by Sasha's sudden movement and continued silence since her arrival. Bian watched, uncertain of what was happening but sensing that something is wrong.
Sasha approached the woman and said, “You must be Alina’s mom. I’m En’s friend.”
The woman responded with a cold, perplexed stare. Sasha, with a trembling hand, handed her a copy of the test results and continued,
“You may not approve of their relationship and have tried to keep them apart. But En will never leave Alina, no matter what. She will always be with her.”
Alina’s mom looked at the paper, her face growing pale as she read and absorbed the shocking information. Meanwhile, a team of nurses rushed by, pushing another hospital bed toward the operating room.
“En?!?” Bian exclaimed in terror, her voice trembling with fear. “Sasha! It’s En! What happened?!”
Bian’s panic heightened as she saw En being wheeled toward them. Doctor Zhao’s voice cut through the chaos, “Please keep her heart beating for the next 10 minutes. Our patient needs it.”
The urgency in his tone underscored the gravity of the situation as the team moved quickly to ensure En’s heart continued to support the ongoing operation.
Alina’s mom stood in shock, unable to process the unfolding events. As she watched En being rushed toward the operating room and heard Doctor Zhao's urgent plea, the reality of En's sacrifice for her daughter began to sink in. Overwhelmed, she remained motionless, her tears falling freely as the depth of En's love and commitment to her daughter became painfully clear.
As Sasha shared everything with Bian, the two women wept together, struggling to accept what had happened to En. Their tears mingled with their shared grief as they comforted each other.
Suddenly, Posy's doctor emerged from the operating room, her expression grave.
“Posy’s situation is very serious. The burst appendix caused a widespread infection, and I’m afraid the money you have won’t cover the entire procedure.”
Desperate, Sasha pleaded, “Doctor, my mother is on her way with the rest of the savings from the farm. Please continue with the operation. I promise she’ll be here soon.”
The doctor gave her a sad, hesitant look. Just then, Alina’s mother, who had been quietly observing in a short distance, stood up and approached them.
“Please continue with the procedure, Doctor. I will cover the rest of the expenses right now,” she instructed firmly.
The doctor nodded, her relief visible, and quickly returned to the operating room with renewed urgency.
Sasha remained silent, her gaze fixed on Alina’s mom. She understood that the woman's decision to cover Posy’s surgery stemmed from guilt over En's sacrifice.
Through her tears, Alina's mom confessed, "She never took the money I gave her. Despite her sister's serious condition and the urgent need for funds, she refused to take the money I offered to stay by my daughter’s side."
Overcome with guilt and emotion, Alina's mom sobbed uncontrollably, the weight of En’s selflessness crushing her.
Sasha continued to stare at Alina's mom, her own tears streaming down her face. The depth of the situation and the woman's guilt only intensified Sasha's own grief and sense of loss. The shared sorrow and sacrifice hung heavily in the air between them.
