En has remained steadfastly by Alina's side since learning of her condition. Some days, En would stay at Alina's home, while on other occasions, Alina would come to the farm. En is determined to ensure that Alina receives the care and attention she needs.
The ladies on the farm have been a great source of support for both women. Posy, in particular, has shown exceptional care for Alina, deeply committed to helping her feel better.
Despite her condition, Alina and En have never faltered in keeping their promise, occasionally visiting the cabin on 73rd Street. They sometimes bring Posy along, and the three of them savor the cabin's beautiful, serene ambiance together.
"Hey, little one. Don't ruin the bus seat. Vandalism is bad."
En scolded her little sister.
"I'm not sister. I'm making it nice and beautiful - this is an art."
Posy answered as she continued to carve on the bus seat in front of them.
Alina laughed at Posy's charming insistence on her artistic endeavor. She rested her head on En's shoulder as they made their way home, reflecting on their wonderful stay at the cabin.
"There we go! I'm done! Look, sister- isn't it beautiful?"
Posy exclaimed excitedly, presenting her work with a proud smile.
The little girl had carved her name along with a delicate flower on one side of the seat. On the other side, she had etched a heart shape, filled with the letters E and A. En smiled and kissed the little girl's head as she admired her work.
"You're right, Posy. That is very beautiful work you've done there."
Alina cherished the time spent on the farm with En, Posy, and the other ladies. The fresh air offered her a refreshing change from the bustle of town. Although the past few days had been unusually hot, today was pleasantly cool. En and Alina relaxed on the field, spreading out a blanket as they enjoyed their books.
As they enjoyed their relaxation, Alina suddenly felt a sharp twinge of pain in her chest. She slowly sat up, trying to remain calm so as not to alarm En. However, Alina's attempt to hide her discomfort was unsuccessful, as En quickly noticed something was wrong.
"Are you okay?" En asked, her concern evident.
Alina offered a brief smile and nodded emphatically, though she remained silent.
"Alina, tell me. Are you okay?"
En asked again, this time with a firm, commanding tone that still conveyed deep concern.
Alina's tears began to fall as she shook her head, indicating that she wasn't feeling well.
"I feel dizzy suddenly and I felt a sharp sting in my chest," she said.
En tried to stay composed and not show her panic.
"Just calm down, baby; you're going to be fine," En reassured her as she grabbed her phone to call Sasha.
"Hey, Sasha, where are you? Are you busy? I need some help," En said urgently.
Sasha appeared almost immediately, saying, "I was at the barn smooching with Bian. Do you need something?"
"Alina suddenly doesn't feel well. Can you drive us to the hospital in town?" En asked urgently.
"Of course, let me call Bian so she can accompany me back here later," Sasha replied. She glanced at Alina and noticed her face turning pale.
En and Alina made their way slowly down the hospital and walked towards Dr. Zhao's clinic, with En carefully guiding her.
"It should be on this side," Alina said, pointing down the hallway.
"No, baby," En corrected gently. "That's the pediatrics, neurology, and oncology section. Cardiology is down the next hallway, along with dermatology and OB-GYN."
"How long have you been wandering the hospital?" Alina joked.
En smiled and replied, "You seemed to have forgotten, but I've run through every hallway here trying to find where you were staying the last time I found out you were sick."
Both women just laugh as they continue walking towards the next hallway.
When Alina arrived at Dr. Zhao's clinic, she was quickly examined. Despite not feeling stressed, it became clear that her heart was weakening. Alina's mother arrived at the clinic as soon as she heard about the emergency. Upon entering the room, she saw En by Alina's side. Although she still disapproved of her daughter's relationship with En, she chose to set aside her concerns for the moment and focus on her daughter.
Alina had to be admitted to the hospital for further tests, and En stayed by her side the entire time. She attended to Alina's every need, feeding her and remaining present as Alina slept.
