The cool breeze accompanied by the chirping of the crickets isn't enough to give En a feeling of stillness as she stands on the porch. It was the 3rd cigarette she lit for the past 30 minutes. The happenings from earlier keeps echoing on her mind. She can still thoroughly envision the woman's brown eyes, rubescent cheeks and pink curved lips that makes an irresistible, captivating smile. She never thought she'd be able to finish eating up that slice of cake knowing that she's never fond of desserts.
A warm feeling gushed all over her face as she continues to think of that moment. She had to light another stick as she felt her head tingling again while reminiscing the ephemeral time she spent with Alina.
However, her fascination was interrupted when the lights in her room went out. It seemed like the entire farm house's power died too. And in a swift second, En saw the night sky lit as the lightning flashed from afar which shortly was followed by an extreme roar of thunder.
At that moment En knew where she had to go. She went back inside her room, grabbed her headphones and rushed to her little sister's room. Posy is balled up on her bed again crying for help as the thunder continuously echoed on the walls of her room. En turned on the headphones but the red LED light kept flashing, implying that it's running out of battery. She quickly jumped in the bed to comfort the little girl who's still terrified by the rumbling sky.
"Hey Posy, I'm here. It's okay. Don't be scared."
En uttered in an attempt to calm her little sister.
Posy continued crying as the thunder keeps releasing it's rage.
"Tell me, what helps you before during thunderstorm?"
En begged Posy to answer as she feels helpless about the situation.
"I tell her stories to somehow keep her mind off of it."
En turned around and saw Sasha.
"It doesn't help as much as your trick with your headphones but in some way, it distracts her mind a little bit."
Sasha added as she approaches both of them. She sat next to Posy to aid support.
"Hey Posy! I have a special story to tell you. It's about a little bunny who befriended a dinosaur. Would you like to hear it?"
The little girl remained whinning and curled up swaying her body to and fro.
"Once upon a time, there was a big dinosaur wandering the forest. He roars like a thunder day in and day out which made the other animals scared of him. Roarrrr!"
Sasha imitates the sound a dinosaur makes which made Posy looked into her.
"One day, as the dinosaur walks and roars into the forest, he accidentally tripped on a log and fell. The forest ground was shaken as he continues to roar because of pain. Roarrrr!"
Sasha continues her story.
"All the animals in the forest ran as fast as they can away from the dinosaur because they are afraid of him. As the dinosaur continues to roar in pain, a white little bunny hops closer and closer to him."
Sasha took the bunny En bought as a present to her little sister and made it hop closer and closer to Posy.
Posy smiled as the stuffed bunny hopped closer and closer to her. En was relieved seeing how her sister has now focused on the story.
"The little bunny isn't scared of the dinosaur. She felt sad seeing the big guy in pain. The bunny attended the dinosaur's wound as the rest of the animals behind her continues to watch. As the dinosaur felt less pain, he grabbed the little bunny and roared again. The other animals were frightened thinking the big monster will eat the fluffy bunny. But the dinosaur roared to thank her. He continued carrying the little bunny as he started slowly walking again.
As the bunny sits on the dinosaurs hand, she was amazed how high she was at that moment. She was taller than all the trees in the forest and saw the mountains too. She looked up and she could see the birds flying as she was much closer to the sky. The little bunny was very happy to see a whole new world up there and never imagined that she would be able to see it.
The other animals saw how happy the little bunny was who made a friend with the big dinosaur that makes a scary sound. Now, everytime the dinosaur walks into the forest and roars, the animals don't run away anymore. They knew that the dinosaur was a friend and they shouldn't be scared of him."
Posy's face looked calmer compared to earlier after hearing the story. She continued to play with her stuffed bunny and doesn't mind the sound of the thunder.
"Every time you hear that thunder, hold this little bunny. Because her friend is calling her to play, okay?"
Sasha said while stroking the little girl's hair.
Posy nodded happily as she continued playing with the stuffed animal.
"Thank you, Sasha."
En uttered to appreciate what the woman did.
"You're welcome! Anything for our dear Posy."
Sasha responded with a smile.
