As En leaved the room to head down for dinner, she abruptly heard a sweet little voice in the room across hers. Little Posy is just getting herself ready for dinner and is excited to meet her sister. En's face can't help but make a little smile as she hears her soft giggling voice.
"Enid, dinner's ready in a few. Come down and we'll eat soon!"
Sasha called En right on the stairs. En nods as she walks towards her.
"Please call me En moving forward. Enid sounds a little formal."
En responded with a hint of smile on her face this time.
The two sat on the dining table as they waited for Rosa and Posy. The table was full of local dishes that smelled mouth-watering. En's stomach rumbled as she remembered it's been more than 24 hours since she last ate.
As she hungrily stared at the food on the table, her peripheral vision caught two figures slowly walking down the stairs - Rosa and a little girl.
Posy was wearing a pink dress, her hair was tied up and the smile she wears made her face prettier despite the outfit she's wearing.
"Enid, this is little Posy. Posy, say hi to Enid."
Rosa introduced both sisters to one another.
"Hello sister! My name is Posy! I'm so happy to finally meet you!"
Posy's voice is so sweet and innocent. Her smile radiates to her eyes that makes her a sight for sore eyes.
En can't help but feel a sense of regret recalling her previous decision to refuse meeting and looking after her half sister. Posy's innocent face and cheerfulness was a ray of sunshine that melted her sister's heart right away.
"Hello Posy. My name is Enid. You can call me En. It's really nice to meet you."
En responded with a smile on her face while patting the little girl's head.
"Can I call you sister instead?"
Posy asked excitedly.
"Yes, you may call me sister, little one."
Posy's smile turned into the biggest grin she could ever make as she knows she isn't left without a family now.
The 4 shared a lovely and satisfying dinner that night. Posy asked a lot of questions about En and shared what her life has been living on the farm. En started feeling lighthearted as she gets to know more about her little sister.
After dinner, Rosa accompanied Posy to take her night bath. En stayed downstairs to help clean up the dinner table. She brought the stacked plates in the kitchen where Sasha is busy washing them in the sink.
"I see you are settling in just fine eh?"
Sasha jokingly asked.
"Yeah, I guess you can say that. Maybe I was just worried about living in a strange locale all of a sudden. But Posy is a dear."
En answered.
"Yes, Posy is such a delight. We were worried after your mom died because she is left with no immediate family. But we're happy you decided to see her. I'm happy!"
Sasha exclaimed as she finished cleaning the last plate.
En is back in her room. As she stares on the window, all she can see is the dark clouds covering the sky. There's no sight of a single star, only the lightning luminates the dark bliss every now and then.
A loud thunder unexpectedly roared the night skies followed by another heavy pour of rain. The sound of both rain and thunder calmed En's nerves yet in a close distance she heard the sudden scream and cry of her little sister. She hurriedly knocked on her door and when the little one didn't open, En let herself in and found Posy on the corner of the bed. Little Posy has balled herself up covering both her ears with her hands, crying hysterically.
Sasha also ran into Posy's room as she knew how scared the little girl of the thunder was. She saw En sitting in front of her sister comforting her.
"She has always been scared of the sound of thunder."
Sasha explained.
En felt heartbroken seeing Posy trembling of fear. She then stood up, rushed to her room and returned back with her headphones on her hand. En gently removed Posy's hands on her ears and replaced them with the headphone. A soft instrumental music was playing on her ears. Posy started to calm down as she couldn't hear anything aside from the music.
En started to feel relieved as Posy stopped trembling and started breathing normally. She carried the little one back on her bed and signalled her to go to sleep. As she was about to step out of the bed, Posy held her hand and looked at her sister.
"Please stay, sister."
Posy's weak voice begged her.
En nodded and tucked herself in the bed beside her little sister. Sasha just smiled and signalled both of them as she closed the door and left. En stroked her little sister's hair until both of them fell asleep.
