Becca POV
It's been a month since we've been back. Bullet comes over most nights, making sure on my full twelve-hour days that Grey is already fed, bathed and in bed. Some nights, there's a warm bath waiting for me. There's always dinner waiting for me, the nights he's over. When he comes to pick her up early, he drops off a lunch for me and I get to see Grey for a little bit before they leave. She's really grown to love her dada so much in just a month. We did a family costume at his insistence that her first of everything be amazing, and since he'd missed so much already...he guilted me.
I'll admit it. I was guilted into that costume idea.
We dressed up as Peter Pan characters. Grey was Tinker Bell, I was Wendy, and Bullet was Peter Pan. Tights and all. Thankfully Willow got a good picture of all of us. Bullet looked so proud, holding his little fairy on his shoulder with his other arm around my waist. It felt nice, and it was great feeling like we were building a friendship to coparent her on. He still keeps me posted on who hits on him, who he's around, who is near him, all the time. I keep telling him I don't need to know, that he's single, but he always comes back with the same response.
"I want you to know. I want you to trust me again. I can only hope to achieve that through total transparency."
Grey's party is in about two weeks, and today, we're inviting Brynn and Quinn from our mommy and me classes. She's slowly been opening up to Kai and me the last month, and I know it's only the tip of the iceberg, but I can tell that sometimes certain things hurt. Last week, Quinn's dad, Ryan, came to pick them up from class and Kai was carrying Quinn. He leaped out of the car, stalked up to Kai and was just about to threaten him when Parker came up with Brody and kissed Kai. Brynn introduced us to Ryan and he seemed hesitant about shaking Parker and Kai's hands. It's 2023 people. Get over it.
"This is my brother, Parker, and my brother-in-law, Kai." I smiled, introducing them. He leered at me, eyeing me up and down, while Brynn stood next to him, looking down. He just nodded at them, reaching out to take Quinn. The boy curled into Kai until just a word from Ryan had Quinn going to him.
"Come."
Calling his son like a dog. There has to be abuse going on. That little boy looks terrified and so does Brynn, though she's trying to hide it.
"Oh! I totally forgot! This is your guys' invitation to come to Grey's birthday party in a couple weeks. We just moved back last month, so it's taken a while to get all these out," I said lightly, laughing a little, smile plastered to my face. Ryan took the invitation, his eyes widened ever so slightly seeing it would be held at the clubhouse.
"You're having a little girl's party at an MC clubhouse?" He asked, skeptically.
"Her dad is part of the MC. We've got all kinds of fun things planned for the kids. There's an art station, where they can paint and color. There are also games like pin the wings on the fairy, since her party is "Grey's fairy first birthday". There will also be a buffet of food, and the bar will be open for the adults."
"We'll be there." He cut me off, handing the invitation to Brynn and turning around, walking away, taking Quinn to the car. Brynn hurried (read: hobbled) after them.
"I don't like that guy." Parker said, Kai and I nodding in agreement. "I'm almost 100% sure after that interaction that he's abusing not only her, but the kid too. Or the kid has seen it. I just don't have any actual proof."
"If she wants help out of that situation, we can get her out." I nodded at Kai's words.
"We just need to be careful, and offer to help her out, when she's ready. That's the key." I said as we all made our way to the SUV. I need to talk to Bullet about this. He might have some ideas on how we can get her out, or who to talk to.
Cameron POV
Becs: Can you come over? We need to talk about something. Super important.
Since I got that text from her, I've been waiting in the driveway of Kai's house, curious about what it could be. I haven't done anything to make her mad or upset with me in any way that I can think of. Grey has been eating good and growing like a weed. We've been reading all kinds of those board books and pointing out different things.
Shit. What if it's because...I literally can't think of anything. Maybe the one friend she's slowly been making at the mom and me class? What was her name? Beth? Britt? Something like that. Wracking my brain, trying to think of what she wants to talk about, Kai pulled in and everyone began to pile out of his SUV. I go help grab Grey so Becca can get out from in between the two car seats in the back.
"I ordered take-out so we can start working on an exit strategy for her," Kai said walking into the house, Parker following with Brody. Becca, Grey and I followed. I looked at her, confused. Exit strategy? Who needs that?
"Brynn. We're pretty sure her baby daddy, and boyfriend, Ryan, is abusing her and their little boy Quinn. He's about Brody's age, but stays super quiet. Whispering mostly, and only to Brynn or me or Grey. He wouldn't even look at Kai or Parker a few weeks ago. Today he let Kai carry him because Brynn could barely lift him."
"He was stiff in my arms the whole time." Parker placed Brody in the little gated play area in the living room with some of their toys, and I followed suit with Grey. "I'm grabbing some stuff from the office. Take a seat at the table. We're going to brainstorm."
A few minutes later, Kai had files, pre-made paperwork, his laptop and phone laid out in front of him. "Let's get to work. We need a list of things we will need as proof from her."
"I'll start that list," Parker lifted his hand, grabbing a sheet of paper and pen, writing like his life depends on it. Kai nodded.
"Next we need a list for her of important documents to pack and where to stash go bags for her and Quinn."
"Are you guys sure?" I asked, stupidly. They all three stopped and looked at me.
"It was like looking at Indie again before bringing her here," was all Kai needed to say, and I pulled out my phone. "I'm calling Hades and Prez. We need to get the guys in on this."
"She hasn't asked for help. And we don't know if she wants it." Kai said, trying to get me to stop.
"She wants it. She probably just feels stuck with him. She doesn't see a way out." Becca said, "I know that look," Parker looked at her and squeezed her hand. "She wants out. But it seems impossible. We need to get her alone at the party to give her the info."
"It needs to be where he won't find it," Parker chimed in, looking at Becs again. Clearly knowing something happened when her family found her escape plan. Something she hasn't shared with all of us yet. If ever.
I shoot a text to Hades and Prez, letting them know about a possible situation at Grey's party.
Prez: What situation? It's a kid's party. In two weeks.
Hades: What's going on?
Bullet: We need to observe someone who we're pretty sure is abusing his woman and child. They're friends with Becs and Grey. Becca is convinced she wants out, but thinks it's impossible. Right now, just need the brothers to observe this POS when he comes.
Hades: Can we kick his ass if he's stupid enough to show up?
Bullet: No. We don't have definitive proof yet. He will also keep Brynn and Quinn under a tighter hold if we tip him off.
Prez: Good to know. I'll bring it up in church Sunday. I'll put Hacker on it. What's her name? His name?
Bullet: Brynn Whitaker, his first name is Ryan. Don't have a last for him.
I got thumbs up from them both, "It's coming up in church so everyone can keep an eye on him without being obvious. Can you talk to the women, Becs?"
She nodded as she finished her list of documents that Brynn needed to find or get out of the apartment after making copies so it didn't raise suspicions.
This should be fun.
