"Poa," Stephen said with a small sigh of annoyance in his voice. He closed his eyes just a tad before he opened them while he looked at her with lips pressed into a thin line. "I thought we had talked about this."
His mate turned to look at him and grinned with a small shrug. "I know," she said, "but it is safe for them to know." Shs gestured toward us before her grin grew wider. "And it isn't like a couple of them do not already know." She gestured to me, and I set my jaw and pressed my lips into a thin line, feeling guilty for some reason.
Stephen looked at me and then looked at her again. He didn't say a word, but I could tell that he didn't know if he liked me knowing or not, even though I was to be his king just as my mate was to be his queen.
Poa waved him off and grew serious. "We can argue about this later, Stephen," she said, coldly while she pressed her lips into a thinner line. "Right now, I think it is best we take care of your High Queen, which is why we are here in the first place." She cocked her head and raised both eyebrows in unison.
Stephen sighed and slowly nodded, setting his jaw and looking tired and annoyed. "Of course, Dear," he said, relenting and earning a triumphant grin from her.
She grew serious and looked toward me. "Would that be ok, Young Alpha?" she asked and bowed her head ever so slightly.
'Young Alpha?' Trevor asked while I nodded because it would be ok for her to help my mate. 'Why not Your Majesty?' He glanced at me from the corner of his eye while he moved out of Poa's way, and she moved to my mate's side with Stephen trailing just behind.
I pressed my lips into a thin line, and my cheeks turned a little red while I talked with my Beta. 'Because I am not mated to Kat just yet, and I do not feel comfortable being called "Your Majesty,"' I replied, and Trevor bit back a small snort and mentally nodded.
"Do you mind coming over here as well, Young Alpha?" Poa asked and looked at me with a hesitant smile on her face. "I believe I am going to need you."
'But you are marked by her,' Trevor said. 'You have been marked to her for a while.'
I nodded and walked over to Poa, pressing my lips into a thin line. 'I know,' I said, 'but that doesn't mean I am comfortable with it, and Stephen wasn't going to call me Brody so that was a good compromise.' "What do you want me to do?" I asked out loud while my Beta bit back a small smirk.
"Kneel beside her and take her hand, Young Alpha," she said and gestured to my mate. "Go ahead and take..." She trailed off and grimaced with her cheeks turning red.
"Amity," Amity said, her voice barely above a whisper. "My name is Amity." She squeezed my mate's hand before she let go of her hand and moved to the side.
"Right," she said and nodded, clearing her throat while she looked at me and offered me a tight smile. "Can you take Amity's spot, please, Young Alpha?"
"Yes," I said and nodded before I did what I was told to do and knelt down beside my mate.
I moved my hand through my mate's hair before I looked at Poa, biting the inside of my lip. "What do you want me to do?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Just be there for right this second," she said and shook her head. "Now, there is a stone or something? From what I have gathered, there is a Stone of Power that goes with the High Cats, yes?" She looked at Kat's mother and raised an eyebrow in question, and Kat's mother nodded in confirmation.
Kat's mother looked at me expectantly while Raylen shifted on her feet and pressed her lips into a thin line, looking very nervous and uncomfortable.
