The conversation went exactly like I thought. It went even better when Carlos entered the room. We spent a good amount of time teasing him about it before we all finally calmed down. At this point we were all quiet and working on our own things. Carlos was on his computer, Evie was working on Chads homework, Mal was reading through moms spell book, and I was working on my own dreaded homework. Most of it was easy but math and me never got along, it was especially telling right now. I was wishing for a distraction when Jay came in with a new blue jersey, his hands pointing up and towards one side of the room, all accompanied with a happy whistle.
"My knight in stolen armor. Thank you, Jay!" I said happily touching my pencil down.
Jay gave me a smile before walking up to Mal's bed and leaning on one of the pillars on each corner of her bed.
"Did the plan with Jane work? You going over to see the wand?" He asked.
We all had discussed our plan yesterday. It was simple, Mal would work on befriending Jane in hopes of us getting an in that way. So far it wasn't going nearly as great as we all thought it would. My little side quest was not technically part of the plan. It was -like I said- a side quest. I figured keeping him distracted and feeding him what he wanted to see would keep him off our backs and make this go a whole lot smoother.
"Do you think I would be going through every single spell in this book if I hadn't completely struck out?" Mal said, incredibly frustrated.
"Well someone's in a bad mood." Carlos said, his voice lower but still clearly heard around the room.
I sent a glare at Carlos before looking back at Mal as she continued talking.
"My mom is counting on me. I can't let her down." Mal said before hitting Carlos in the head.
He shrunk forward slightly with a hurt expression on his face.
"We can do this." Jay suddenly said, pulling himself away from Mal's bed. Everyone looked up at him surprised to see he was the one trying to uplift Mal. "If we stick together." He said a little quieter.
"And we won't go back until we do." Mal said, pulling everyone's attention on her.
"Cause we're rotten..." I said, pushing for our little catch phrase.
"To the core." Everyone said in unison.
"Oh yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses with the wand at coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear of course." Evie stated, freezing all of our attention on her.
Before anyone could say anything, someone knocked at the door. I let out a small laugh as I got up and walked to the door.
"Evie." I whispered.
"What?" She responded, confused.
I opened the door to see Ben. He gave a little smile to which I responded with my own and cocking my head slightly to the side.
"Well this is a surprise." I stated.
Ben let out a small laugh as he filled with his hands, moving them as he started to talk. "Hey guys. I haven't seen any of you guys today expect for Isolde and was wondering if you had any question or anything you needed."
At this point Evie had stood up and Mal had walked up behind me. I turned to glance at my friends and Mal. "Uh-" I started only for Mal to finish.
"Not that we are aware of."
"Okay, alright, we uh if you need anything just uh-" He started as he began to walk back.
"Oh wait!" I said quickly, an idea popping into my head. Ben brought his hands together as he walked forward. "Is it uh true we all get to go to your coronation?"
