"Ma'am, you should head home," Kaden said to me.

"Don't worry, I'll go," I reassured him, and then walked a little further to the roadside, waiting for an auto to go to the bar. Just then, my phone rang. I pulled it out of my bag and answered the call.

"Where are you, Aarini? We've been waiting for a while," Karan's voice came from the other end.

"I'm waiting for an auto. I'll be there soon once I get one," I replied, glancing at my wristwatch.

"Send me your location, I'm coming to pick you up," Karan said, cutting the call before I could say anything else.

I did as he asked, sending my location on WhatsApp, and then continued to wait by the roadside for him to arrive. Suddenly, I noticed a group of kids coming out of the restaurant, holding balloons, and heading toward me. They surrounded me and started to spin around in circles. Watching them play made me smile. The wind picked up, causing my silky hair to scatter. Bangalore's weather is always unpredictable-one moment it's a breeze, and the next it could turn into a storm or even rain.

Before I knew it, I was holding the red heart-shaped balloons the kids had given me, spinning around with them like a little child.

Just a few steps away, Karan leaned against his car's bonnet, arms and legs crossed, watching her. He had stopped the car and was about to come over, but seeing her play, he paused. He wanted to see her, to watch the smile on her face. Her innocent face, her smile, and her childish antics were drawing him toward her, stirring something in his heart.

Karan had encountered many women in his life, but there was something about her that was different, something that captivated him in a way no one else had. He had never met anyone as independent, innocent, and sweet as she was. He had felt a connection to her ever since that night seven years ago when he saved her. If She hadn't left the orphanage back then, maybe she would've been by his side all this time. Seven long years he had waited, just for a chance to meet her again. All these thoughts swirled in his mind, completely unaware that the girl he was watching, the one he imagined a future with, was married to someone whose very name could bring ruin to anyone's life.
