"SO YOU GOT to the fuel reserves before we did." Nick states with a smile toward Madison, relief flooding through him as Sadie looks over at her mother and brother with a grin. Victor—someone who Sadie hasn't seen since the hotel—nods, looking over at the siblings, "There was enough to make an impact." Nick turns away from Victor, looking over what's left of the ranch, "And then some."
"We have enough fuel to get us where we need to go." Madison explains and both Sadie and Nick look over at her with furrowed brows, her brother beats her to the punch as he questions, "Where's that?" Their mother glances over at them, blonde hair swaying in the wind as she states, "Make the trading post by nightfall, supply up. Dam by morning."
Her eyes flit to behind her, centering on Ofelia before she leaves the three to talk to the woman. Sadie sighs, fiddling with her fingers as she thinks about what Madison said a couple minutes before — Ofelia was bitten, back in the bunker. All her bitterness and hate that piled on after Ofelia left them for dead flew away, leaving Sadie with only sadness. They lost the ranch, but everyone that she cared about was alive. Well, that's not true. Ofelia was going to die and she was on Sadie's list of people, even if she thought the woman was a bitch.
