( chapter sixteen, nowhere is safe. )

A FEW MONTHS HAD passed since they came to Woodbury. The two deciding to stay after they went over the pros and cons of staying. One, it was a good place for the baby to be born, that was one of the main reasons of deciding whether they stayed or left. Two, it was a safe place for Sadie, though she didn't know why it was so important but Troy decided it already. Three, if they needed to, Troy could infiltrate the wannabe military of Woodbury if they need to leave.

The cons of staying were just theories and feelings but still enough to decide on staying or going. One, the man that greeted them when they got there—the Governor as the people of Woodbury called him—was a total fake. Two, the feeling the military and everyone residing in Woodbury gave Sadie and Troy the creeps. Three, for Sadie, it felt just like the ranch.

With the months passing by, Sadie's belly had grown, completely obscuring her vision of her lower half. It was only a matter of time before she had to give birth, something she wasn't super excited about — the thought of it completely terrified her, to which Troy tried to reassure her every time that he'd be there for her when it happened. That still didn't keep her from fearing of the inevitable. Troy's hair had grown out, his curls—which weren't noticeable before—had completely taken over. Something that Sadie absolutely adored, she loved playing with his brown hair any moment she could.

The cold air had turned humid, the summer breeze coming in with the changing seasons. Sadie assumes it's around May or June but she couldn't be sure, she's tried to count how many days had passed but she quickly forgot about it.

"It's real." A woman, a newcomer that came in the night before—Andrea—breathes out. Sadie walks alongside her, along with two other women — a quiet and broody woman named Michonne, which Sadie had quickly taken a liking to, though she doesn't state it. "You two were out there for a long time, like Sadie." The other woman, Mary, explains with a clipboard in hand. At her name, Sadie glances over with raised brows. "And while you were, the Governor was doing this." Mary gestures around Woodbury as the four walk the streets.

"How many people do you have here?" Andrea questions with squinted eyes, scanning the small town that is Woodbury. "Seventy-five. Eileen and Sadie's about to pop, so their kid's will make it seventy-seven." Sadie's face scrunches up at Mary's words, annoyance showing as she stares at the woman. She will love her baby, but the upcoming birth was something she wasn't going to love and she wanted to remain ignorant of it for a little while. "It's still a work in progress, but Rome wasn't built in a day."
