birthdays never truly meant anything to kusuo.
he just.. never found the importance in them.
why would he celebrate such a trivial event? sure, it was nice getting presents and food and special treatment, but otherwise, he saw nothing in it. normal people celebrating their date of births seemed ordinary to him, them merely not aware of the actual question of why, and sometimes he'd join the celebration for the food and such.
on his birthday? it never really made sense to him. he was already given a gift daily, and that was your presence.
there never had to be any presents because nothing could ever catch his eye and attention like you do.
his birthday probably is important, he thought, since a psychic was born, but why have the need to celebrate it? it wasn't like anyone else knew about his powers and what he does except for other espers and his family, but they never celebrated his birthday for the sake of the "birth of his powers." they celebrated for the birth of him. and he had no idea why.

he counted down the seconds to midnight. his parents were sleeping soundly, and he sat on his bed watching as the clock ticks. for some reason, he couldn't sleep. nervousness? no. excitement? definitely not. in any case, he had much on his mind, those being thoughts about you, so he decided to just wait for his birthday to strike.

he felt his phone chime, and he sighed. what is it this time? he squinted his eyes in the darkness. the only light that flashed in his dark room was his phone as the notifications started piling in. it must be those idiots. he began to rub his eyes as he grew more and more tired.
